Public Relations Associate - Southern CA residents preferred SRF Headquarters Los Angeles, CA Job Details Full-time $25 - $33 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Content writing Research Full Job Description Position Summary The Public Relations Associate supports all PR initiatives to increase awareness about the yoga meditation teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. This role is responsible for handling media requests and public inquiries, developing content and campaigns that advance SRF's mission. Preference will be given to candidates able to attend in‑person events in Los Angeles and Southern California. Responsibilities Develop PR campaigns promoting SRF programs, initiatives, and offerings at local, national, and international levels. Create content including press releases, pitches, articles, blog posts, backgrounders, and other public‑facing materials. Pitch story ideas and cultivate strong relationships with journalists, editors, podcasters, influencers, and media partners; build and maintain media lists. Manage the PR inbox and respond to inquiries from media, academics, publishers, conference organizers, and others. Coordinate logistics and press activities at events; organize and host events and visits (universities, public figures, community partners); support spokespeople with briefing materials Monitor trends in the body-mind-spirit field and track media to identify opportunities for advancing SRF's goals; provide relevant recommendations. Produce performance and analytics reports for major PR initiatives. Monitor media and digital platforms for brand mentions and prepare regular reports; track SOV (share of voice), reach, and sentiment as requested. Responsible for following SRF's policies and established processes. Maintain strict confidence regarding sensitive, confidential, and/or proprietary information. Perform additional position-related duties as assigned. Superior communication skills, with the ability to represent SRF professionally. Exhibits originality, resourcefulness, discernment, and good judgment. Ability to work with discretion and confidentiality. Outstanding skills in writing and editing, including recognizing newsworthy angles and compelling storylines, and tailoring content for diverse audiences and platforms. Proven experience producing publication‑ready materials for media and public audiences; research, fact checking, proofreading, and verification skills. Comfort communicating in the spirituality/wellness landscape and ability to communicate with SRF's voice with accuracy and sensitivity. Familiarity with yoga, interfaith communities, or the broader spirituality space is a plus. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications/PR, English, or related field. Minimum 5 years of PR, content‑development, and integrated communication experience across media, social platforms, and owned channels. Knowledge of rapidly changing media and communication landscape as well as emerging tools and tech capabilities that can further PR goals. Competency with data analysis, and ability to accurately measure and report on the impact of PR efforts.
Proficiency with tools and technology:
Microsoft Office, OneDrive; media/social media monitoring tools; AI tools for research, analysis, and efficiencies; CMS Strong time‑management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to prioritize under tight deadlines. Ability to work in alignment with SRF principles. Additional Details This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt, 40 hour per week position, Monday through Friday. This is a hybrid role that would need to be present for in-person events in Southern California. Applicants must submit a one-page cover letter and a resume to be considered.
