What we want The Communications Specialist II supports the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine's marketing and communications efforts through a mix of multimedia content creation, social media execution, and project coordination. This position is responsible for producing photo and video content, supporting digital and social media efforts, and helping manage the flow of communications projects. What you need to know
Salary:
$55,000
  • 65,000 and will be commensurate based on the selected hire's education and experience.
Location/Schedule:

Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, multimedia production, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Two years of professional experience in communications, multimedia production, digital media, or related work Preferred Qualifications Four (4) years of professional experience in communications, multimedia production, digital media, or related work Experience in higher education, academic medicine, healthcare, or other mission-driven organizations Experience managing or contributing to organizational social media accounts Experience capturing content in live or event-based environments Basic graphic design skills or digital content (e.g. social graphics) Experience coordinating projects or working with freelancers or external vendors Familiarity with web content management systems and basic web editing Familiarity with accessibility standards for digital and multimedia content Demonstrated experience creating photo and video content, including shooting and editing Demonstrated experience creating or supporting social media content and platforms Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing Understanding of creating photo and video content, including shooting and editing Social media content and platforms Proficiency with video and photo editing tools (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, or similar) Strong interpersonal communications skills and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Ability to work independently and collaboratively Proficiency with video and photo editing tools (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, or similar) Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities Responsibilities Multimedia Content Creation Capture and produce photo and video content for digital platforms, events, and storytelling needs Plan and execute shoots, including basic setup (lighting, audio, framing) in both structured and real-time environments Edit and deliver content in platform-appropriate formats Maintain and organize photo and video asset libraries for ongoing use Social & Digital Content Manage day-to-day social media execution, including content planning, scheduling, publishing, and optimization Create and adapt graphic and multimedia content for social platforms Monitor performance and engagement, identify trends, and recommend content adjustments Contribute to ongoing improvement of social media presence through content insights and platform awareness Assist with web updates, content adaptation, and basic writing as needed Project Coordination Help manage timelines and deliverables for communications projects (e.g. stories, campaigns, multimedia requests) Coordinate with writers, designers, and freelancers to keep project moving and aligned with deadlines Track progress, follow up on deliverables, and proactively address delays or gaps Ensure smooth handoff between content creation and final delivery across platforms Why Texas A&M University?
