Job Description

Overview Greater San Marcos Youth Council (GSMYC) is seeking an energetic, outgoing, and self-motivated Outreach & Communications Coordinator to help tell our story and build relationships throughout Central Texas. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, networking, representing a mission they believe in, and using technology to communicate with the community. The Outreach & Communications Coordinator serves as one of the public faces of GSMYC by promoting our programs, supporting fundraising events, maintaining our digital presence, and helping strengthen community awareness of our mission to shelter children and strengthen families. If you're the type of person who isn't afraid to introduce yourself, ask a business owner for support, attend community events, and then come back to the office and tell that story through social media, photography, and our website—we'd love to meet you. Community Outreach Represent GSMYC at community events, networking functions, and public presentations. Build relationships with local businesses, civic organizations, schools, and community partners. Solicit sponsorships, auction items, and community support for fundraising events. Assist in promoting Pull for Hope, Back to School Fest, and other agency events. Identify opportunities to increase community awareness and engagement. Communications Maintain and update the agency website. Manage agency social media platforms. Create newsletters, flyers, brochures, and promotional materials. Write press releases, success stories, and community announcements. Photograph agency events and develop engaging content that highlights our mission. Marketing Develop marketing campaigns that increase awareness of GSMYC programs. Help maintain consistent branding across all communication platforms. Monitor website and social media activity and recommend improvements. Assist with special projects, community presentations, and agency promotions. Other Duties Work closely with the Executive Director and Community Relations Coordinator to promote agency initiatives. Assist with grant support by providing photos, success stories, and marketing materials when needed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related field or related experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable speaking with business leaders, community members, donors, volunteers, and the public. Strong organizational and time management skills. Experience using Microsoft Office, Canva, WordPress (or similar website platforms), social media, and AI productivity tools. Photography, graphic design, and video editing experience are a plus. Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation.

From $40,560.00 per year
