Job Description

General Position Summary:
The Communications Intern must be an actively enrolled college student in a communications or marketing program. The intern will assist the Associate Director (AD) of Communications who serves as the point person for all of Johnson Health Center's public relations, community engagement opportunities, and development and implementation of Johnson Health Center's brand strategy. The Communications Intern will use company resources to accurately create, post, publish, or distribute approved JHC-branded materials to ensure brand consistency. The individual develops content and assists with the company website, social media sites, and Google listings as instructed. The individual works with the Patient Engagement, Development, and Human Resources teams at the direction of the AD of Communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with creation, production, and distribution of all promotional materials such as press releases, newsletters, and publications (print and digital) and ensures the consistent use of all print and electronic branding assets such as letterhead and logos. Assists with JHC's social media, website, and promotional content. Maintain use of company-wide brand style guide as needed. Accompany the outreach team at community functions to represent JHC. Assist with Johnson Health Center externally hosted events. Accompany the AD of Communications at networking and recruiting events to promote the Johnson Health Center brand, services, and career opportunities. Assists with inventory of JHC-branded materials and promotional items, ensuring all are current and accurate, and coordinates the creation of new materials when necessary. Physical attendance is an essential element of the job and necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Perform other duties as assigned. This includes and is not limited to JHC hosted events, fundraisers, and specific patient demographic outreach.
Other Functions:
Ability to work effectively with all levels of community individuals, administrative and professional personnel. The Communications Intern will abide by the Code of Conduct as documented in the Corporate Compliance Manual. Must demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to Johnson Health Center and its mission. The AD of Communications may modify, add, or remove any job functions as necessary or as changing organizational needs require.

Qualifications:
Active enrollment in a local college or university communications or marketing program. Demonstrate knowledge of outreach methods. Proficient in use of technology and social media. Well-developed communication skills (oral and written). Ability to work as a member of a team and communicate clearly and regularly without prompting. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable, insured transportation required.
Physical Demand and Working Environment:
Fast-paced office setting with travel to other offices often. Lifting and/or exerting force up to 25 pounds occasionally, with frequently moving of objects. Work requires speaking, sitting, bending, walking, standing, hearing, and stooping, kneeling, and repetitive motion with certain activities. 8 hours of constant computer usage. OSHA low-risk position.
