Job Description

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Writer to support and strengthen the Department's digital and print communications efforts. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Writer collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders and content providers across the Department to present information in a clear, efficient, and audience-friendly manner. The Writer composes and edits a variety of comprehensive and technical materials with attention to stylistic consistency, organization, readability, and accuracy for lay audiences on matters related to mental health and neuroscience. Responsibilities include conducting background research, selecting and interviewing sources, ensuring factual accuracy, and coordinating the production of online and print communications materials. The role also supports updates to internal and external websites and social media channels to reflect departmental research, clinical, educational, and public service activities. The UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is among the nation's foremost resources in the field of child, adolescent, and adult mental health. Faculty members are recognized for leadership in compassionate patient care, pioneering research, excellence in education and training, advancement of public policy related to mental health, and commitment to diversity.
