KSNW is looking for a dynamic journalist who thrives on breaking news, enterprise stories, and implements urgent coverage on broadcast, digital and streaming platforms to join our team as a full-time assignment editor and digital content producer. The ideal candidate understands how to cover spot news with urgency and attention to detail, and has an understanding of cross-platform, multi-media coverage, including broadcast, digital, social media and streaming apps, like KSN+. Must have excellent news judgment and instincts, with the ability to find stories that will help make our content unique and distinctive. You should be a highly motivated, organized, multi-tasker. You should be a good communicator with people in the newsroom and crews in the field. You should be a natural leader who can instantly take charge during breaking news. A curious mind, investigational skills and the ability to dig deeper into a story is essential.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with news team to make coverage decisions Assign, communicate, and coordinate logistics for story coverage including dispatching crews Assist with newsgathering and research for stories through calls, text, email Lead the charge on mining social media, confirming information to disseminate to the newsroom Be the voice to viewer calls and the face to KSN guests/interviewees Coordinate interviews and segments for broadcast and digital platforms, including podcasts, live newscasts and taped segments Write/publish/edit digital stories for multiple platforms, including social media, website and streaming apps Coordinate streaming coverage and scheduling of live events, breaking news and podcasts with digital team Keep the newsroom organized and functioning seamlessly Coordinate communication and content sharing between Nexstar Stations Lead special event planning and other advance credentialing
Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience Fluency in English, bilingual Spanish a plus Must have superior organizational skills Must be able to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks Must be able to make decisions and take a leadership role Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Experience in news operations preferred Strong understanding of digital platforms, including social media and streaming. Proficiency with newsroom, digital and streaming computer systems, editing, camera equipment, computers, telephones, and other office equipment; willingness to learn new systems. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Flexibility to work evening and other shifts as assigned
