  • $55 /hr Posted May 14, 2026 Our client, a well known health system in Boston is looking for a REMOTE Digital Content Writer / Strategist.
This part-time, freelance position starts as soon as we've identified the ideal candidate, and will continue (approximately 20-25 hours per week for at least 3 months. There is potential to increase hours and extend the assignment based on performance and skillset. The Digital Content Writer / Strategist serves as the strategic voice for web content across the health system, working collaboratively with clinical leaders, service line marketers, digital marketing team members, IT, and system stakeholders to create patient-centered content that drives engagement, improves health literacy, and supports organizational goals. The ideal Digital Content Writer / Strategist will translate complex medical subject matter into clear, compelling, patient-friendly content, leverage SEO best practices to enhance discoverability, and ensure accessibility and HIPAA compliance.
Digital Content Strategist Responsibilities:
  • Create, edit, and optimize new and existing web content
  • Translate complex medical and clinical subject matter into clear, compassionate, patient-friendly language that enhances health literacy and supports informed decision-making
  • Implement and maintain SEO best practices including keyword research, on-page optimization, internal linking strategies, structured data markup, and local SEO for facility and provider pages
  • Help develop and maintain the comprehensive content strategy for website and digital properties, including defining content goals, audience personas, messaging frameworks, and success metrics aligned with organizational objectives
  • Assist in digital content planning and editorial calendar management, coordinating content creation across multiple service lines, departments, and locations to ensure consistent brand voice and messaging.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for all marketing content, including proper handling of patient testimonials, protected health information, and authorization requirements
  • Conduct content audits to assess performance, identify gaps, eliminate outdated information, and ensure medical accuracy and compliance with current clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements
Digital Content Strategist Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Health Information Management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in content writing, strategy, digital content management, or web content development
  • Experience working in healthcare, preferably within a health system, academic medical center, or hospital environment is highly preferred
  • Experience conducting content audits, user research, and analytics-driven content optimization
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt medical and clinical content for diverse patient audiences
  • Ability to effectively use generative AI tools such as WRITER, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot for content creation, data analysis, research, workflow automation, and problem-solving.
  • Background in health education, patient advocacy, or clinical communications highly preferred.
