Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, this individual will be responsible for maintaining the school's vibrant brand presence through high-quality writing, digital content management, and dynamic visual storytelling. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a sharp eye for detail.
Core Responsibilities Content GenerationWriting:
Serve as the primary writer for the department, producing weekly news stories, engaging articles for the Kent Place magazine, and compelling copy for various digital platforms.
WebsiteDigital Presence:
Maintain and update the main school website and Finalsite microsites (including the Ethics Institute, Girls' Leadership Institute, and Summer Camp), ensuring all content is timely, accurate, and SEO-friendly.
PublicationsNewsletters:
Project manage and assist in the creation of diverse print and online publications, including regular newsletters and community-wide communications.
Visual Media Management:
Coordinate professional photography and videography schedules, storyboard authentic video content, and manage relationships with external creative vendors.
Editorial Oversight:
Utilize and maintain a comprehensive editorial calendar to ensure consistent, strategic messaging across all communication channels.
Social MediaAnalytics:
Collaborate on social media strategy, create high-quality daily content, monitor community engagement, and regularly report on digital analytics.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field).
Experience:
4-6 years of progressive experience in communications or marketing, preferably within an independent school or higher education environment.
Strong Writing:
Exceptional storytelling and copy-editing skills with a proven ability to adapt tone for various audiences and platforms.
Project Management:
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tight deadlines, coordinate vendor schedules, and execute complex projects independently.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong experience with CMS platforms (Finalsite preferred), social media management tools, and basic digital marketing strategies. This is a full-time, temporary contract position spanning approximately six months (mid-August through mid-February). Occasional evening work for school event coverage is expected.
