Job Description

The Adult Family Home Council's mission is to improve the lives and well-being of vulnerable adults through the support of Adult Family Homes. The Council is seeking a motivated, creative, and strategic individual to join our team as Director of Communications and Digital Technology .
Position Description:
The Director of Communications and Digital Technology reports to the Executive Director and they lead the Council's communications, digital presence, and website strategy. This position combines strategic communications leadership with hands-on responsibility for WordPress website management, digital design, email marketing, social media, and online engagement. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, skilled digital communicator, and experienced WordPress professional who can manage the Council's website content, design, and functionality while expanding the organization's use of digital tools, automation, and online resources. This role supports member engagement, public visibility, event promotion, and access to information for Adult Family Home providers, families, and partners across Washington.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Council's communications strategy across website, email, social media, and other digital channels. Create, edit, and publish website copy, newsletters, social media posts, blog content, and other communications materials. Manage and enhance the Council's WordPress website, including design, page development, user experience, accessibility, and ongoing updates. Develop and maintain website templates, visual standards, and branded digital assets for campaigns, events, and organizational initiatives. Improve website navigation, document organization, and online resource accessibility so members, providers, and families can easily find the information they need. Support and optimize the Adult Family Home Finder and other high-value website tools to improve visibility, usability, and engagement. Implement SEO best practices, including keyword optimization, technical SEO improvements, internal linking, and content strategy to increase search visibility. Develop and manage digital marketing funnels, analytics, and performance tracking for membership, events, and program engagement. Coordinate email marketing campaigns, audience segmentation, automated workflows, and event-related communications. Oversee social media planning, content creation, scheduling, and promotion of Council initiatives, resources, events, and educational content. Support implementation and ongoing improvement of chatbot and other digital engagement tools that improve member service and public access to information. Collaborate with staff, consultants, and vendors to maintain website performance, troubleshoot issues, and advance strategic digital initiatives. Coordinating outreach to members, prospective members, business affiliates, and the public on the Council's mission and activities. Development, review, and distribution of outreach campaigns using social media, email campaigns, the AFHC website, direct mailers, events, and other materials as needed. Campaigns include but not limited to: Preferred Qualifications Experience with WordPress website design, development, and maintenance. Experience with nonprofit, membership-based, healthcare, long-term care, or advocacy organizations. Familiarity with SEO strategy, website analytics, and digital marketing performance reporting. Experience with email marketing platforms, social media management, and marketing automation tools. Experience creating digital graphics, event branding, and communications materials for multiple audiences. Familiarity with website integrations such as CRM systems, online forms, Dropbox, Mailchimp, Salesforce, or related platforms. Required Qualifications Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong WordPress, web design, and digital content management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail, organization, and project management skills. Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to collaborate with staff, contractors, and external partners. Education/Training Preferred Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, web design, graphic design, information technology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of formal education. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress, email marketing platforms, social media tools, and online meeting and training platforms.

This position is full-time, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm in Tumwater, Washington. Some travel required. Position will remain open until filled.
