With 18 retail stores, an online store, an extensive reuse/recycling operation, and our Contract Services division, we help individuals overcome barriers to employment, build sustainable lives and communities. The Product Sourcing & E-Commerce Specialist is primarily responsible for traveling to retail stores, donation centers, and warehouses to train, support, and develop staff in e-commerce operations and product selection. This role serves as a key resource in building team capability by delivering ongoing hands-on training in product identification within the ever-changing landscape of online retail. While on-site, the specialist partners closely with store and production teams to identify high-value and marketable items, ensuring a consistent pipeline of merchandise for online sale. The role applies informed judgment using Send to E-Commerce guidelines to guide teams in recognizing trending, specialty, and high-performing categories, including vintage, designer, and collectible items. In addition, the specialist reinforces quality control standards by ensuring items are accurately evaluated in alignment with Retail and E-Commerce strategies. Through ongoing coaching and cross-functional collaboration, this position drives consistency, operational efficiency, and growth in online sales performance while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and standards. Job Responsibilities Product Sourcing Source high-value and marketable items from multiple locations, including retail stores, donation centers, and warehouses. Evaluate items based on brand, condition, demand, and resale value. Identify specialty categories such as vintage, designer, and collectible items for online sale. Build and maintain strong relationships with store and production teams to ensure a consistent flow of quality merchandise. Exercise independent judgment in selecting items appropriate for online channels. Identify trends, high-performing categories, and opportunities for growth. Training & Team Development Train staff and/or program participants on product identification, and quality expectations. Provide ongoing coaching to employees and management to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency. Support cross-functional teams in understanding E-Commerce standards and expectations. Quality Control & Compliance Inspect items for authenticity, condition, and completeness prior to release for sale. Ensure all products meet established quality standards and are accurately represented. Adhere to organizational policies, safety standards, and eCommerce best practices. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required Strong knowledge of brands, fashion, and/or collectible markets Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment CA Driver's License and a Clean Driving Record Preferred Qualifications Experience in retail, E-Commerce, or resale preferred Experience with online selling platforms such as eBay or ShopGoodwill preferred Basic photography skills and an eye for detail and presentation Proficiency in computer applications and data tracking (e.g., spreadsheets) Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Aptitudes/Skills/Temperament Strong communication and training abilities Attention to detail and commitment to quality Visual merchandising and product presentation skills Problem-solving and adaptability Alignment with mission-driven work and sustainability practices Equipment Used Pallet Jack Hand Trucks/Dollys Working Conditions The job is performed both indoors in a climatically controlled setting and outdoors independently and in cooperation with co-workers. Work is performed in large enclosed warehouse area on an even concrete floor surface. Some items handled may be soiled/dirty, these are either cleaned or disposed of following established procedures. A variety of household cleaning products are used. Work is completed independently but in cooperation with whole department. The noise volume is moderately high throughout the day depending on the amount of activity, equipment in operation, radio operation and television testing. Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, moveable containers/racks) may be operated in or near work area.Emotional Effort Moderate:
The job is routine with occasional periods of high activity/demand requiring little or no overtime to complete the work. Work environment is occasionally hectic with high activity, with great emphasis on teamwork. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move items up to 30-50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, and handling of merchandise. Work across multiple locations, including retail and warehouse environments. Travel Required - Approximately 50-75% of working hours.
