Chestnut Hill Nursery Alachua, Florida Online Sales & Shipping Manager Full-Time | Alachua, FL About Chestnut Hill Nursery Chestnut Hill Nursery is a tree nursery in Alachua, FL that grows and sells trees through wholesale (garden centers, box stores, landscapers), retail, and e-commerce mailorder. We're looking for a driven, tech-savvy team member to manage our online sales operations and plug into the broader production and business side of the nursery. Position Summary The Online Sales Shipping Manager oversees e-commerce fulfillment, customer service, shipping and packing logistics, and website operations, serving as the liaison between online sales, wholesale inventory, and nursery production. This role works closely with our Online Sales Manager to manage the full order lifecycle, from initial customer inquiry through processing, shipping, and final delivery. Daily responsibilities include fielding customer calls and working in WooCommerce and ShipStation to manage orders and provide great customer service. Weekly responsibilities include preparing shipping batches and leading the shipping crew. Beyond daily execution, this role supports website maintenance, inventory management, and supply management. Prior plant knowledge isn't required, but a genuine enthusiasm for plants goes a long way with our customers. We're looking for someone warm and personable, equally comfortable on the phone with a customer as they are outside managing inventory. This is a dynamic leadership role for someone who can think strategically while staying hands-on in the work. Reports To Owners/General Manager. Works cross-functionally with the Office Manager, Wholesale Sales Director, and Grower/Farm Manager. Customer Service & Sales Answer phone calls and emails from retail and website customers Field questions on orders, shipping, product availability, and tree care Develop deep product knowledge to provide expert guidance and generate sales Assist the tree doctor in identifying disease, pest, or health issues and relay guidance to customers Resolve order issues quickly and professionally Website & E-Commerce Management Operate the WooCommerce/WordPress site Manage product listings, descriptions, photos, pricing, and page content Assists with website inventory Coordinate with marketing to calendar promotions Assist with or manage email marketing and calendared e-blasts Order Fulfillment & Shipping Oversee the full fulfillment pipeline from order to delivery Manage the packing crew; ensure packaging meets standards Create and delegate pull lists and task lists for warehouse staff Coordinate shipping via UPS, FedEx, and freight carriers Evaluate and improve shipping processes (packaging, wrapping, boxing) Analyze shipping rates and help inform appropriate online/retail pricing Manage inventory for shipping supplies, planting instructions, and tags Learn and improve upon Shipping SOPs for order fulfillment, inventory, and task delegation Technical Skills & Tools WooCommerce/WordPress — website and e-commerce management QuickBooks — order processing, invoicing Excel, Google Drive, Gmail — data management, reporting, communication UPS, FedEx — shipping platforms and carrier accounts ShipStation — UPS interface for online fulfillment Willing to learn AI tools — email, inventory, task automation, operational efficiency Quick learner with new software, apps, and systems Qualifications Strong customer service skills; professional phone and email communication Tech-savvy with e-commerce website management experience E-commerce experience preferred Inventory management experience Familiarity with shipping, fulfillment Strategic thinker Plant, tree, or nursery knowledge preferred Management or supervisory experience preferred Comfortable in office and outdoor nursery environments Spanish language skills a plus
