Our retail client is looking for an eCommerce Content Specialist! This remote freelance role starts as soon as possible, 40 hours a week, for 5-6 months. Being able to come on site in Akron, OH would be a huge plus. The eCommerce Content Specialist will collaborate with the Site Merchants and Marketing teams to plan and execute strategic content that boosts engagement, supports product category sales, drives new initiatives, enhances natural search rankings, and delivers an exceptional omnichannel customer experience. This person will also work cross collaboratively to ensure weekly SEO enhancements are implemented, new content is shared across channels, and that messaging remains cohesive. Key Responsibilities Plan, create, and publish engaging onsite content for websites through the CMS to drive customer engagement, discovery, and conversion. Partner with Site Merchandising, Marketing, and Creative agency to deliver content aligned to category strategies, brand standards, and omnichannel initiatives. Ensure all content is executed accurately based on approved briefs, wireframes, and business requirements.
Optimize site navigation, content structure, and internal search to improve discoverability, usability, and customer pathing.
Conduct regular website audits to identify content issues or experience gaps; escalate defects, submit tickets, and support UAT testing for new or enhanced features.
Implement ongoing SEO enhancements in partnership with the SEO Manager, Search Team, and external agencies, aligned to evolving Google Core Web Vitals and best practices.
Maintain and manage performance dashboards to track content and campaign effectiveness across key KPIs. Analyze content performance, customer behavior, and assortment interactions to identify optimization opportunities and inform future content strategies. Support campaigns and special projects by developing content briefs, wireframes, and marketing job requests.
Govern and leverage third-party tools (e.g., Bazaarvoice, Tangiblee) to enhance onsite experience and customer confidence. Conduct ongoing competitive benchmarking and trend analysis to identify market opportunities and inform content recommendations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required
3 + years' experience Experience with ecommerce platforms, CMS tools, BazaarVoice, Tangiblee, JIRA, Web Analytics Tools (preferably adobe analytics), Excel Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a demonstrated ability to write persuasive, conversion-oriented product copy.
Practical knowledge of on-page SEO, keyword optimization, metadata, and best practices for eCommerce search visibility.
Experience using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and A/B testing platforms to measure content performance and guide improvements.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
familiarity with digital asset management (DAM), Excel for data handling, and experience with conversion rate optimization (CRO) techniques.
