By assisting the Health Manager, the Support Assistant is responsible for the required screenings, procurement and record keeping responsibilities for the Head Start & Pre-kindergarten programs in Orange County. This is an 11 month position.
Specific Responsibilities:
Data Input:
The Support Assistant is responsible for entering all health data of children enrolled in Head Start, Early Head Start (EHS), and Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI). This includes processing incoming health data as well as intake data. Includes Powerschool training, Go Engage Training, Website training.
Recordkeeping & Reporting:
The Support Assistant is responsible for reporting the screenings, Individual Health Plans, Medication updates, height & weight, First Aid kits, to the Health and Nutrition Manager on an established timeline. Menu creation : The Support Assistant creates monthly menus, and special snack menu according to CACFP guidelines including special diet and other menus and distributes them to teachers, cafeteria managers and registered dietician. Health and Nutrition Compliance Manager oversees this area.
Reception:
The Support Assistant is the primary point of contact in the Head Start TEAC office and staffs the entrance door, receives and distributes phone calls and faxes on an established schedule.
Procurement :
Responsibilities include the weekly grocery shopping for preschool as well as creating / managing food supplies for the monthly pickup and/or delivery in all 13 classrooms across three sites.
Child Screenings:
Within the first 45 days of enrollment, the Support Assistant is responsible for screening each child's hearing and vision using an established protocol and instruments. The Support Assistant is also responsible for assisting, tracking, follow up and communication with parents on the screening results.
Monitoring:
The Support Assistant is responsible for monitoring and stocking classroom first aid kits, individual health plans and medication expiration dates on an established schedule. Other projects and duties as program needs require.
Requirements:
K. Adherence to NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct, including confidentiality. L. Annual physical examination.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirement of a high school diploma or GED with experience in office management and knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards.
