Lighting Sales Representative III Location:
Western Division, Alabama (Tuscaloosa, Demopolis, Jasper, Winfield, Haleyville)

Alabama Power Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Lighting Sales Representative III to support lighting product sales and business development initiatives across the Western Division service territory. This senior-level role is responsible for leading sales efforts, developing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering energy-efficient lighting solutions for commercial, industrial, and utility customers. The ideal candidate will possess extensive lighting industry experience, strong consultative sales capabilities, and the ability to manage strategic accounts while driving revenue growth and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Client Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing commercial and industrial clients. Understand evolving customer lighting and energy-efficiency requirements.
Identify opportunities for:
Upselling Cross-selling Lighting system upgrades Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the sales lifecycle. New Business Development Identify and pursue new customers and market opportunities across the Western Division territory. Develop strategies to expand market presence and increase revenue. Generate leads through networking, referrals, and industry engagement activities. Lighting & Technical Expertise Maintain comprehensive knowledge of: LED lighting systems Fixtures and controls Smart lighting technologies Energy-efficient lighting solutions Stay current on lighting industry trends, utility programs, and emerging technologies. Provide technical guidance and product recommendations to customers. Consultative Sales & Presentations Deliver customized lighting solutions aligned with: Customer operational goals Energy-efficiency initiatives Budget requirements Conduct professional sales presentations demonstrating: Product benefits ROI analysis Technical capabilities Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proposal Development & Negotiation Prepare detailed proposals including: Pricing Product specifications Project timelines Energy savings estimates Collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams to ensure proposal accuracy. Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service agreements to achieve revenue targets. Order & Project Coordination Oversee order processing and project coordination activities. Coordinate with vendors, operations teams, and installation personnel when required. Monitor project progress and ensure successful delivery and customer satisfaction.
Market Analysis & Reporting Analyze:
Market trends Competitor activity Customer preferences Industry developments Generate sales activity and forecasting reports. Track progress toward territory and revenue goals. Sales Leadership & Networking Mentor and support junior sales personnel when applicable.
Participate in:
Industry conferences Trade shows Networking events Customer outreach initiatives Represent the company professionally within the utility and lighting industry. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in: Business Marketing Engineering Related field preferred Experience 10-15 years of experience in: Lighting Sales Electrical Sales Energy Solutions Sales Related technical sales environments Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of:
LED lighting products Lighting controls Energy-efficient technologies Utility lighting applications Ability to explain complex technical information clearly to customers. Sales & Business Skills Strong experience with: Consultative sales Proposal development Contract negotiation Strategic account management Excellent presentation and communication skills. Systems & Tools Proficiency with: CRM software Microsoft Office Suite Sales reporting tools Additional Requirements Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Western Division territory. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with:
Utility companies Energy-efficiency programs Commercial or industrial lighting projects Leadership or sales team mentoring experience preferred. Existing industry relationships within the Alabama utility or electrical market are highly desirable.
