ASSOCIATE PRODUCT MERCHANT OVERVIEWS

The Associate Product Merchant is responsible for purchasing products and assisting category merchants and product merchants in driving down costs and improving purchasing efficiencies. The Associate Product Merchant works within the procurement team and may collaborate with other teams like designers, supply chain and operations experts, manufacturing experts, marketing managers, and sales professionals to bring product to market. DUTIES Purchase product from preferred vendors Manage vendor relationships to maximize company favorability and profitability Work with external third parties to assess vendor partnerships and opportunities Assist in developing product specifications based on customer, sales, and market feedback Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to define product branding, positioning, and distribution channel Work with vendors and product merchants to develop sales and marketing tools appropriate for the sales channel Inventory Management. Facilitate inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules, including working with sales to liquidate dead stock Be an expert with respect to the competition, product, and companies Assist in the execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, price and specification positioning, requirements development, product launch, post-launch changes, and product end-of-life processes. Work with cross-functional teams of sales, marketing, product information, and production to accomplish the goals and metrics for the product SKILLS Analytical Strategic Project Management Customer Relations Negotiation Entrepreneurial Organized Analytics Software (D365, Excel, & Power BI)
