What You'll Do Data Collection & Management Work as part of a team to collect, aggregate, clean, organize, and validate large datasets from sources such as equipment sales, utility programs, manufacturers, distributors, and market research. Identify, assess, and manage data collection needs and risks to data quality that may affect analytical outputs. Partner with other data/research teams to identify data and knowledge gaps and co-develop solutions that strengthen analysis, forecasting, and reporting. Analytical Modeling and Forecasting Independently develop new, defensible analytical models; modify, maintain, and improve existing models; and manage all related data updates. Translate program strategy, market dynamics, and research inputs into quantitative forecasts of energy savings potential, including scenario analysis, risk and opportunity sensitivity analysis, and cost-benefit analysis. Develop, maintain, and improve methodologies and models used to calculate and forecast energy savings, in collaboration with ETA staff and consultants. Evaluate results against historical trends and emerging market information and refine assumptions and analytical approaches as new data become available. Market & Technology Analysis Analyze technology adoption, market share, sales, product characteristics, technology performance, baseline conditions, utility program activity, and other market indicators to identify trends and changes in market behavior. Develop and maintain forecasts of technology adoption, market share, sales, and energy savings. Tools, Process Improvement & Automation Evaluate and apply statistical, visualization, database, and other analytical tools appropriate to ETA's evolving data needs. Develop repeatable, reproducible, and well-documented processes for preparing and analyzing data that support collaboration, quality assurance, and peer review. Help improve and automate recurring data-processing and analytical tasks to increase efficiency and reduce the potential for errors. Develop visualizations and analytical tools that translate complex data into clear, actionable market insights. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication Serve as a core analytical partner on multiple cross-functional program teams, providing quantitative decision support to inform program design, market engagement strategies, and investment decisions. Support alignment across analytical, program, and research functions by clearly communicating analytical needs, assumptions, and implications throughout the program lifecycle. Translate complex analytical methods and findings into clear technical documentation, visualizations, presentations, and other materials for technical and non-technical audiences. Contribute to cross-functional projects and assist in the development of technical documentation and deliverables. Other duties as assigned Skills & Knowledge We're Looking For Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analytical methods and findings to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise. Strong motivation to contribute to the energy efficiency and sustainability sectors. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including experience developing and reviewing complex analytical models. Strong data visualization skills and the ability to communicate analytical findings clearly through charts, tables, dashboards, and presentations. Experience with data visualization tools such as. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, data science, statistics, mathematics, economics, physics, computer science, or another quantitatively focused technical field. 5+ years of professional experience in quantitative analysis, energy analysis, market analysis, forecasting, data science, engineering analysis, or a related field. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including demonstrated experience working with large, complex datasets. Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and trend analysis. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency with Python for data cleaning, transformation, aggregation, analysis, modeling, visualization, and automation. Familiarity with energy modeling tools and techniques. Experience analyzing technology adoption, equipment sales, market share, customer behavior, or other market indicators. Experience developing forecasts of technology adoption, sales, energy use, or energy savings. Experience with SQL, relational databases, or other tools used to manage and analyze large datasets. Familiarity with utility regulatory environments, energy efficiency evaluation, or energy savings reporting. Compensation Dependent on qualifications and experience, we expect the pay range upon hire for this position to be $85,000- $95,000 annually.
