Marketing & Operations Assistant Hawaii Off-Grid Architecture + Engineering | Haiku, Maui Aloha! Hawaii Off-Grid Architecture + Engineering is growing, and we're looking for one incredible individual to join our ohana. We're a busy, passionate design-build firm headquartered at Pauwela Cannery in Haiku, specializing in sustainable, resilient, and off-grid design across Hawaiʻi. We work on a wide range of projects from private to government work. This is a full-time, in-person position. Our ideal candidate is on-island, rooted in local culture and community, and genuinely excited to grow with us — not just fill a seat. About the
Role:
This is a hybrid Marketing & Operations Assistant role for someone who's creative, organized, and loves wearing multiple hats. You'll support HIOG's brand presence across digital channels while also keeping our office running smoothly day to day. Whether you're drafting a social media post, helping prep a proposal, or keeping the Director of Operations on track, you'll be a key part of how HIOG shows up — both online and behind the scenes.
What You'll Do:
Marketing & Communications
  • Assist in developing and executing content strategy aligned with HIOG's brand values and business goals
  • Manage and grow HIOG's Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube presence through static posts, Reels, Stories, and keyword-optimized video content
  • Maintain a content calendar for consistent output year-round
  • Write bi-monthly blog posts and assist with a monthly newsletter featuring project updates, press highlights, and curated content
  • Help oversee all written content across digital platforms for quality, consistency, and voice
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a brand guide covering logos, fonts, tone, and visual standards
  • Research and assist with submitting projects to architecture, design, and sustainability awards programs
  • Support the PR agency relationship; help track and archive press coverage
  • Assist with SEO efforts and help integrate strategic keywords into web and blog content
  • Pull together monthly social media insights and performance reports
  • Assist in coordinating photography and video content that reflects HIOG's visual identity Operations & Administrative Support
  • Provide day-to-day administrative assistance to the Director of Operations and Principal
  • Support the design staff with project coordination and general office needs
  • Assist with client intake and correspondence
  • Help with invoicing, proposal preparation, and document formatting
  • Assist with schedule and calendar management
  • Support RFP submittals, tracking, and deadline management
  • Handle general office tasks and help keep things organized and running smoothly As you grow into the role, responsibilities will expand — and your compensation will reflect that. What We're Looking For
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-2 years of experience in an office setting, marketing, communications, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience
  • Strong writing and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube; familiarity with email platforms like Mailchimp or similar
  • An eye for design and a strong visual aesthetic sense
  • Proficiency with Mac/Apple computers and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and think critically
  • A genuine interest in sustainable design, off-grid living, or the built environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with Hawaiʻi, its culture, and its built environment is a genuine plus
