Job Description

SUMMARY This position will work closely with the Cedar Rapids Tourism marketing team to assist with key program areas, projects and events. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Cedar Rapids and show visitors all there is to discover in the Linn County area. Candidates must be actively enrolled in a marketing related program at an accredited college or university. The work schedule will consist of 16-20 hours per week for a period of four to six months and will include evenings and/or weekends for content collection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1.
Content Updates:
Manage content updates and changes on the Cedar Rapids Tourism website. 2.
Email Marketing:
Build and manage weekly event email marketing. 3.
Writing:
Create blogs and itineraries for the website and social media platforms. 4.
Marketing Content:
Support the marketing team with content for social media platforms. 5.
Marketing Support:
Provide support for a variety of marketing, special events, sales and servicing support while staying up to date on current marketing and social media trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must as well as knowledge of relevant social media and video editing tools and applications. Ability to organize workflow and meet established deadlines. Work hours will be flexible and vary according to event schedules and the needs of the department, and may include holidays, evenings and weekends. Attendance at community events in order to guarantee efficient and quality content will be required. This position requires skill in meeting and/or exceeding the expectations, being articulate with well-developed communication skills and personal poise. This position requires excellent teamwork skills, working cooperatively with others in the accomplishment of joint tasks and common objectives. Contributes to a positive work environment, fosters collaboration and provides a tangible contribution.
