The Management & Marketing Department is seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management/Human Resources beginning Fall 2027. The Department of Management and Marketing at Bridgewater State University educates students for successful careers in business and management through high-quality education. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Management with concentrations in General Management, Global Management, Human Resources Management, Information Systems Management, and Operations Management, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. The Department also contributes to the University's Master of Business Administration ( MBA ) program. The Department is committed to high-quality teaching and student success. Students benefit from small class sizes, internships, experiential and project-based learning, employer connections, and opportunities to apply classroom learning to real organizational challenges. The successful candidate will join a collegial faculty committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, advising, and service and will contribute broadly to the undergraduate Management curriculum, particularly in General Management and Human Resource Management, while also contributing as needed to the MBA program. Essential Duties:
The Department of Management and Marketing at Bridgewater State University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Management beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, academic advising, and service. The primary teaching responsibility will be at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate must be prepared to teach courses across both the General Management and Human Resource Management curricula. General Management teaching assignments may include Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, Leadership, and Strategic Management. Human Resource Management teaching assignments may include Staffing, Compensation Management, Training and Development, and Labor Relations. The successful candidate may also have opportunities to teach courses in the University's MBA program. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarly activity consistent with the University's expectations for tenure and promotion. The candidate will also participate in academic advising and contribute to the ongoing development and assessment of departmental programs and curricula. Essential duties also include participation in departmental and University meetings, committee work, curriculum development, student advising and mentoring, and other forms of service to the Department, College, University, profession, and broader community. The ideal candidate must demonstrate sensitivity to and an understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
Required Qualifications:
An earned Ph.D. or DBA in Management, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Business Administration or a closely related business discipline, or a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, from an accredited institution by September 1, 2027. College-level teaching experience with undergraduate students. Academic preparation and expertise sufficient to teach courses in both General Management and Human Resource Management. Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, an active and sustainable program of scholarly research. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching, academic advising, and student success. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to departmental and University service.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College-level teaching experience in multiple areas of General Management and/or Human Resource Management.
  • Experience teaching graduate-level business, management, human resource management, organizational behavior, leadership, or related courses.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity, preferably including publications in peer-reviewed/refereed academic journals.
  • A clearly defined research agenda with the potential for continued scholarly productivity.
  • Professional or organizational experience related to management or human resource management.
  • Experience with experiential, applied, or project-based learning.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of, or openness to further developing culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices to engage a diverse group of students.
  • Familiarity with, or openness to adopting, innovative instructional technologies to foster engaged learning.

Eligibility:
Please be aware that employment at Bridgewater State University is contingent upon completion of a successful background check. Bridgewater State University is an E-Verify employer. Salary is commensurate with experience in accordance with the Appendix O of the MSCA contract . A reasonable starting salary range to expect for a new faculty member appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor is $75,000 to $85,000.
