Books Production and Marketing Assistant About Us Common Ground Research Networks publishes peer-reviewed academic books spanning interdisciplinary fields, collaborating with international scholars to produce high-quality, forward-thinking research. Our art imprint, Immaterial Books, explores the intersection of photography, visual culture, and critical theory through beautifully crafted art monographs and catalogues. Position Overview The Books Production and Marketing Assistant will support the end-to-end production workflow for academic book titles under Common Ground Research Networks and assist with art publications under Immaterial Books. In addition to production duties, this role will also help with sales and marketing initiatives to promote new releases. Ideal for someone passionate about scholarly and art publishing, production, and marketing, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Key Responsibilities:
- : Coordinate with authors, editors, and designers to ensure timely submission of clean, production-ready files.
- : Track each project through manuscript review, copyediting, typesetting, proofreading, and printing stages. Maintain production schedules, update status reports, and flag any delays to stakeholders.
- : Ensure compliance with publishing standards (e.g., citation styles, copyright notices, ISBN assignment).
- : Communicate specifications and files to external printers and binders, monitor printing proofs, and confirm delivery schedules.
- : Organize and archive production files, image assets, contracts, and permissions documents. Maintain a clear, searchable database of book metadata (titles, authors, ISBNs, publication dates).
- : Assist in developing promotional materials (email newsletters, social media posts, sell sheets) for new titles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Publishing, English, Art History, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in book production, editorial assistance, project coordination, or marketing—academic or art publishing preferred.
- Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office suite; experience with CRM or email marketing platforms is a plus. Skills & Competencies
