Domestic and international travel may be required Summary of the Position Our client is seeking a bilingual Director of Production or Marketing to lead the publishing, launch, marketing, and live operations of multiple video game titles in North America. This position will manage the Production or Marketing team, oversee project schedules and budgets, establish title-level KPIs, and coordinate closely with overseas development teams. The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience in the video game industry and the ability to communicate effectively in both Japanese and English. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Production or Marketing Department. Oversee game publishing, product launches, marketing campaigns, and live-service operations. Develop launch strategies, live-operation plans, project schedules, budgets, and KPIs. Monitor game development progress, player feedback, community sentiment, and title performance. Identify project risks and communicate issues clearly to executive leadership and development teams. Coordinate localization, quality assurance, marketing, and other operational support. Provide North American market insights to overseas development teams. Manage employee performance, hiring, training, and professional development. Evaluate new game projects, publishing opportunities, partnerships, and business development initiatives. Support contract discussions, project evaluations, presentations, and negotiations with developers and vendors. Represent the company at gaming conventions, trade shows, competitive gaming events, and industry conferences. Provide Japanese-English interpretation and translation support as needed. Improve departmental workflows and operational efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. 6 years of experience in video game production, publishing, marketing, or a related leadership position. Business-level or native-level proficiency in both Japanese and English. Experience managing teams, budgets, schedules, and multiple game titles or projects. Strong understanding of the North American video game market. Experience with game launches, live operations, localization, or marketing campaigns. Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to review contracts, purchase orders, budgets, and technical documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Slack, Zoom, and JIRA. Ability to travel internationally and work outside regular business hours for industry events and product launches. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Japanese game developers or overseas headquarters. Experience evaluating new game projects or publishing partnerships. Knowledge of player communities, gaming KPIs, competitive gaming, and live-service operations. Experience attending major industry events such as Tokyo Game Show, Anime Expo, or similar conventions.
