Job Description

Location:
Denver Metro Area Job Type:
Full-Time, primarily in-office
Salary:
$85,000-$105,000, depending on experience About the Company We run a marketing agency with a 25+ year track record of producing measurable results for our clients. We need a director who can run the operation: own the client delivery calendar, hold vendors and employees accountable to real numbers, review work before it ships, and build the processes (including AI-driven ones) that make it faster and better every quarter. This is not a "set the vision and delegate" role, and it's not a production seat either. It's the layer in between that most agencies get wrong: someone who directs the work, measures everything, and holds the standard. If you read that and thought "finally, someone gets it"…keep reading. If you were hoping to spend your days in brainstorm meetings, this isn't your job. What You'll Own Direction of client delivery. You are the last set of eyes before work goes out the door: art review and approvals, proofing, and coordination of marketing assessments from kickoff through delivery. When a client calls, you're the relationship. When a vendor misses, you're the one holding them to the contract. Management of the team. Hiring, 1:1s, performance reviews, and real accountability…not the annual-review theater kind, but week-over-week clarity on who owns what and whether it happened. You'll document processes, improve them, and automate them, with AI integration as a standing expectation rather than a side project. Measurement of everything. Month-over-month client performance, end-of-month analysis, vendor scorecards, employee output. You believe numbers settle arguments, and you build the tracking so the numbers exist. Time tracking and billing accuracy live under you too. Coordination across the business. You'll work directly with sales, coordinate with our B2B marketing vendor, prepare us for trade shows, and research and support our annual client Summit. Messaging and delivery need to line up across every channel and every hand-off — that's yours to enforce. Relationships that compound. Vendors, clients, and industry contacts. You build and maintain the network that makes the agency stronger every year. Who We're Looking For Organization as a reflex. You'll inherit a client delivery calendar, a SharePoint environment, and Asana. We need someone who doesn't just use these tools but drives adoption across the team — if work isn't in the system, it didn't happen. A measurement mindset. You can look at a month of client data and tell us what changed, why, and what we're doing about it. You hold vendors and employees to defined performance standards and you document the results. Leader-level poise. Self-aware, aware of your team, aware of the client in the room. You communicate clearly in writing and in person, internally and externally, and you document decisions so nothing lives only in someone's head. A standard of excellence. You execute at a high level, and you're genuinely uncomfortable letting mediocre work ship…yours or anyone else's. You're inquisitive by nature: constantly researching new tools, new methods, and new technology, and putting what works into practice. Real AI fluency. Not "I've tried ChatGPT." You've designed and implemented AI workflows that changed how work gets done. Experience 5+ years in marketing, with at least 2 years managing people and/or vendor relationships Agency experience strongly preferred; you understand deadlines, deliverables, and clients Demonstrated history of process documentation and improvement Hands-on familiarity with project management platforms (Asana or equivalent) What This Role Is Not The team you'll direct handles day-to-day production work (design, direct mail coordination). Your job is to make sure that work is excellent, on time, and accountable to results, not to do all of it yourself. How to Apply Apply with a resume and a short note (five sentences or fewer) describing one process you improved, what you measured, and what changed. We will not review applications without the note. We're excited to meet you!
