Full-Time, Hybrid Quick Facts Job Type:
Full-time Location:
Greenwich, CT, based at our new flagship location on West Putnam Avenue (hybrid: on-site, field, and remote) Reports to: Dr. Omar Shakir, Founder About Coastal Eye Coastal Eye was founded by Dr. Omar Shakir, a Yale-trained, fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon whose work has turned the practice into a national model for what independent, advanced eye care can look like. We operate more like a multi-specialty institute than a single practice, with mature, diversified revenue pathways and significant room still to grow. Our new flagship location in Greenwich sets a new national standard for what the next era of eye care looks like. It houses a private, state-of-the-art operating suite where a number of surgical techniques now used across ophthalmology were first developed, plus a fully dedicated research division, SightSERA, running active clinical trials in macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. We're actively adding physicians and services, and our marketing needs to grow just as fast. The Opportunity We're hiring a full-time, fully dedicated Marketing Director to take ownership of every marketing avenue at Coastal Eye. This is a build role, not a maintenance one. You'll report directly to Dr. Shakir, immerse yourself in the business (surgical, clinical, research, and referral pathways) to understand where revenue actually comes from, and then build a modern, data-driven marketing function that runs largely in-house.
One of your first priorities:
implementing a CRM to track advertising efficacy, lead generation, and conversion across every channel. What You'll Own All marketing channels (digital, social, content, paid, referral, events, brand), run primarily in-house rather than outsourced. Selecting and implementing a CRM that tracks lead sources, advertising spend, conversion rates, and patient acquisition cost across channels. Dashboards and reporting rhythms so performance is tracked obsessively, with real numbers behind every decision. Using AI tools, especially Claude (Anthropic's AI), to move faster on content, analysis, and workflow without needing to scale headcount to match. Testing new approaches to market penetration and outreach, well beyond the usual playbook. Mapping the practice's full revenue pathways (surgical, clinical, research, referral) to prioritize where marketing dollars go. Managing budget and any outside vendors or agencies where it makes sense to supplement in-house work. Partnering closely with Dr. Shakir and practice leadership as we add physicians and services. What We're Looking For Significant, demonstrated marketing experience. This role isn't suited to recent graduates or anyone without a real track record; please don't apply without it.
A genuinely data-driven mindset:
comfortable owning metrics, building tracking systems, and making the call based on numbers. Direct experience selecting or implementing a CRM, ideally one built for lead tracking and conversion attribution. Hands-on comfort using AI tools, particularly Claude, as part of a modern marketing workflow.
Real creativity:
someone who finds new channels and outreach angles before everyone else does.
Exceptional organization and follow-through:
this role touches a lot of moving parts at once, and nothing falls through the cracks.
Comfort with a hybrid week:
on-site at our Greenwich flagship, in the field with referral partners and the community, and remote as necessary. Healthcare, medical, or premium consumer service marketing experience is a plus, though not required. Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation, with real upside as the practice's topline grows. Health, dental, and vision insurance. Life insurance. 401(k). A genuinely strong office culture built around one non-negotiable: exceptional patient service. A Note on Interviewing Come ready to talk specifics. We'd like to hear your actual thinking: how you'd approach the CRM build, what outreach strategies you'd test first, and how you'd put AI tools like Claude to work day to day. Resume highlights are a start; we want the details behind them. How to Apply Send your resume along with a short note on why this role is the right fit for you.
