The Balmoral Group is seeking a strategic and results-driven Marketing Manager to lead the firm's marketing operations, pursuits, and brand positioning efforts. This role is ideal for a marketing professional who thrives at the intersection of business development, technical communication, and strategic growth within the AEC industry. As a key member of the management team, the Marketing Director will lead proposal and pursuit efforts, support business development strategy, strengthen client engagement, and elevate the firm's visibility across public- and private-sector markets. RFQ/RFP/SOQ
pursuits from kickoff through submission and interview preparation while helping position the firm for long-term growth and high-value opportunities. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with experience managing complex AEC pursuits, developing winning strategies, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and producing high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment. This individual should be equally comfortable with strategic planning and hands-on execution, while also leading day-to-day marketing operations and managing a growing marketing team currently consisting of three direct reports. Key Responsibilities Lead strategic marketing and business development efforts for public- and private-sector pursuit, including FDOT, CFX, and municipal clients. Manage
RFQ/RFP/SOQ
responses from kickoff through final submission, including schedules, messaging, and interview preparation. Research opportunities and direct go/no-go decision-making, capture planning, and strategic positioning efforts. Partner with leadership, project managers, and technical staff to align pursuits with firm growth goals and market strategy. Lead pursuit meetings and business development discussions to drive competitive, client-focused, and high-quality submissions. Build and maintain relationships with clients, teaming partners, and subconsultants throughout the pursuit lifecycle. Oversee proposal writing, editing, QA/QC, and development of pursuit content, presentations, qualification packages, resumes, project sheets, and graphics. Direct firm branding and strategic marketing initiatives, including thought leadership, digital marketing, social media, website content, award submissions, public relations, and conference participation. Develop and maintain proposals, qualification packages, resumes, project sheets, presentations, and other marketing collateral. Manage and mentor a growing marketing team by assigning workloads effectively, setting clear expectations, providing coaching and professional development support, and fostering collaboration across the department. Utilize CRM platforms and analytics tools to improve reporting, efficiency, and pursuit performance. Lead continuous improvement of marketing systems, templates, workflows, CRM data, and proposal processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and deliverable quality. Track business development and pursuit metrics, including hit rates, shortlist rates, proposal volume, and marketing performance, and use data-driven insights to improve strategy and resource allocation.
To Be Successful In This Position, You Will Have:
8+ years of marketing/proposal experience in architecture, engineering, or professional services, including experience leading
RFQ/RFP/SOQ
responses with 5+ years of direct management responsibility. Bachelor's degree (Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or English preferred). Progressive leadership experience in marketing, including development and execution of integrated marketing strategies. Strong background in leading strategic pursuits, including go/no-go decision support, pursuit planning, win strategy development, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams across business development, marketing, and operations. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and evaluate opportunities based on strategic fit, profitability, and delivery capacity. Experience building or working within structured business development processes, focused on improving consistency, efficiency, and win rates. Ability to translate research, market intelligence, and performance data into actionable, structured pursuit strategies and plans and effectively communicate these insights to senior leadership in a clear, data-driven, and compelling manner to support decision-making. Experience in creating and presenting company-wide or division-level marketing strategies to senior leadership, including clear recommendations supported by evidence-based data. Strong understanding of relationship-driven business development, including client engagement, teaming, and early capture planning. Excellent technical writing, professional listening, and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, with experience developing high-quality pursuit and marketing materials. Sensitivity to deadlines with a willingness to work necessary hours to meet them.
