Job Description

Director of Digital Strategy Porter Pro Media | Idaho Falls, ID Reports to: Ownership | Leads a team of 5 (SEO + web design) Most agencies sell deliverables. We sell outcomes, and the thing that produces outcomes is content. Not "blog posts." Content as the actual product: the pages, the video, the answers, the assets that show up when someone is deciding whether to trust a business. Everything else we do exists to make that content work harder. SEO gets it found. AEO and GEO get it cited. UX and UI get it consumed. CRO gets it to convert. Paid media puts fuel behind the pieces that earn it. If you think of content as one channel among many, this is the wrong job. If you think of content as the asset and every other discipline as amplification, keep reading. The role You own the digital side of the house.
Five people report to you:
SEO specialists and web designers. You are responsible for what they produce, how fast they produce it, and whether it moves the number the client cares about. This is a working leadership role. You will be in strategy calls, in the CMS, in the analytics, and in front of clients. We are 23 people. Nobody here has the luxury of managing from a distance. What you will own Digital strategy across the client roster, built content first and structured so search, answer engines, and generative engines can all use it Direction and quality of the SEO and web design team: priorities, standards, review, growth Site architecture and UX decisions that serve both the user and the crawler, without pretending those are the same job Conversion rate optimization as an ongoing discipline, not a one-time audit Client relationships at the strategic level: reporting, roadmapping, hard conversations about what is and is not working Staying ahead of AEO and GEO while everyone else is still arguing about whether they matter What you need to actually know Not "familiarity with." Working command of:
SEO:
technical, on-page, local, and content strategy. You can diagnose a traffic drop without a vendor tool telling you what happened.
AEO and GEO:
how answer engines and LLMs source, cite, and summarize. How to structure content so a brand gets pulled into the answer instead of buried under it.
UX:
information architecture, user flows, how people actually move through a site versus how the client wishes they did
UI:
enough design literacy to direct designers, critique work specifically, and know when a layout is pretty but broken
CRO:
hypothesis, test, measure, iterate. You know the difference between a real lift and noise.
Analytics:
GA4, Search Console, call tracking, attribution that survives a client asking hard questions •Webflow and Shopify experience is a strong plus. Those are our preferred build platforms. Who you are with clients You can sit across from a business owner who has been burned by two agencies already and earn the room back. You explain strategy without hiding behind jargon. You push back when the client is wrong and you do it in a way that makes them trust you more, not less. You would rather deliver an uncomfortable truth in month two than a polite surprise in month twelve. Experience 7+ years in digital marketing, with meaningful depth in SEO and web 2+ years leading people, whether that was a formal team, a pod, or a group of contractors you were accountable for Agency or multi-client background strongly preferred. Managing eight clients with eight different definitions of success is a specific skill and we need someone who already has it. A portfolio of results you can talk through. Not a list of logos. Actual before and after with the strategy in between. Who this is not for Anyone who needs a playbook handed to them Anyone whose SEO knowledge stopped updating in 2021 Anyone who calls content "filler" or treats it as the thing you do after the real work Anyone who wants to manage without doing Anyone who is comfortable being boring Why Porter Pro Media We are a 23-person agency in eastern Idaho doing work that competes with what comes out of much larger shops. We move fast, we own our mistakes, and we do not send clients a report full of vanity metrics and hope they do not read it. Compensation and details Full time, on site in Idaho Falls Salary commensurate with experience How to apply Send a resume and a short note answering one question: what is one thing most agencies get wrong about content, and what do you do instead?
