The Editorial & Content Strategy Director is responsible for overseeing the content curation and editing of our flagship print trade publication serving the professional tree care industry, as well as driving digital content strategy and optimization across platforms. The ideal candidate will bring a strong editorial background, a passion for environmental or green industry topics, and experience in marketing or communications, ideally within a nonprofit or member-based organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Digital Content Strategy Command a strong knowledge of evolving content consumption by channel and the impact of content form to identify the best content form across platforms (social, email, video, etc.) Collaborate with the marketing team to align content with campaigns, member engagement goals, and educational initiatives. Explore and develop multimedia content formats (e.g., videos, webinars, podcasts) to expand reach and impact. Editorial & Print Production Manage the editorial calendar, content pipeline, and production schedule to ensure timely delivery. Collaborate with designers and print vendors to oversee layout, proofing, and final production. Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and teams to lead the creation of strategic content that is relevant and engaging. Team Leadership & Collaboration Work cross-functionally with marketing, membership, and education teams to ensure content supports broader organizational goals. Cultivate relationships with industry experts, contributors, and partners to source compelling and relevant content.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Experience in trade or B2B publishing. Proficiency with project management platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and analytics tools. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Key Attributes Required to be Successful at

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field; Master's preferred.
Experience:
5+ years of editorial experience, including digital content management and print production. At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong understanding of marketing principles, SEO, and content analytics. Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills. Experience in trade or B2B publishing. Proficiency with project management platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and analytics tools. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with the tree care industry, environmental topics, or green professions is a plus. Experience working in or with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
