Job Description

Role Summary This is not a traditional marketing role. The Director of Marketing must know how to grow a cannabis brand without relying on traditional paid advertising . This role owns brand, demand generation, content, partnerships, and compliant growth strategies. Core Responsibilities Growth Strategy Build a marketing engine using organic, community, and partnership-driven growth Develop campaigns that drive store traffic and delivery demand Own customer acquisition and retention strategy Content & Brand Lead all social media, email, SMS, and content strategy Create education-first and lifestyle content (not product push) Build a distinct, trusted brand voice Compliance (CRITICAL) Ensure all marketing adheres to cannabis advertising laws: No unverified health claims No targeting underage audiences No direct product promotion where restricted Work with legal/compliance to approve campaigns Performance Marketing (Within Constraints) Maximize channels like SEO, local search, email, SMS, and influencer partnerships Build referral and community-driven growth loops Track CAC, LTV, and ROI across all channels Partnerships & Community Build relationships with local businesses, events, and influencers Create grassroots growth initiatives Position Social Leaf as a trusted local brand Requirements 5-10 years in growth or marketing leadership Experience in restricted industries (cannabis, alcohol, gambling, etc.) preferred Strong understanding of SEO, lifecycle marketing, and social Creative thinker who thrives under constraints What Great Looks Like Traffic and revenue grow without heavy paid ads Brand becomes known and trusted locally Marketing is creative and compliant
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
