Job Description
The Content & Marketing Director serves as the strategic leader for storytelling, content creation, and marketing efforts across the church. This role oversees the video and social media teams and helps to guide the creative direction for how the church communicates across all platforms. Working closely with the Director of Creative Services, the Content & Marketing Director helps shape narrative strategy, ensures consistent messaging, and leads the development of meaningful content that engages the congregation, supports ministries, and advances the mission of the church. This leader brings a strong blend of creativity, strategy, and process. They understand how to connect people to the life of the church through compelling stories, thoughtful marketing initiatives, and intentional content planning. The Content & Marketing Director is collaborative, innovative, detail-oriented, and passionate about crafting messages that inspire connection, engagement, and deeper discipleship. This role works in collaboration with central staff and in alignment with The Woodlands Methodist Church's mission to reach people for Jesus Christ, disciple them in faith, and help those in need. Key Responsibilities Content and Marketing Leadership Lead overall content and marketing strategy across video and social media platforms. Develop and implement content and communication plans in partnership with ministry leaders and Creative Services leadership. Guide the storytelling approach of the church, ensuring content is clear, consistent, mission-driven, and audience-aware. Evaluate analytics, engagement trends, and communication needs to inform strategic decisions. Team Oversight and Creative Direction Manage and support the video and social media teams, providing regular direction, coaching, and feedback. Set expectations for content quality, voice, style, and brand alignment. Inspire creativity within the team through brainstorming, planning meetings, and cross-department collaboration. Oversee content calendars, production schedules, and campaign timelines. Content Development and Execution Lead the planning, scripting, and creative development of video projects, social campaigns, and storytelling initiatives. Ensure content is optimized and effectively leveraged across all channels, maximizing reach and impact. Collaborate with designers, writers, and ministry partners to produce high-quality content that supports churchwide priorities. Help ensure that major churchwide communication pieces (events, sermon series, initiatives) are supported with strong, cohesive content. Cross-Department Collaboration Work closely with the Creative Operations Director, Web Development Director, and Design Director to coordinate resources, priorities, and messaging. Partner with ministry leaders to understand goals, shape communication strategies, and ensure content meets ministry needs. Contribute to weekly creative meetings and team planning sessions. Serve as a thought partner to the Creative Director on big-picture communication strategy. Quality, Consistency, & Mission Alignment Maintain the church's messaging standards, ensuring content reflects the mission, vision, and voice of the church. Uphold brand consistency in all content produced across platforms. Ensure that all storytelling communicates care, excellence, and spiritual depth. Help foster a collaborative and healthy team culture through clear communication and shared purpose.
