Job Summary The Marketing Manager reports to the Executive Director of University Marketing and is responsible for enhancing and promoting the mission and brand of the University of Texas at Tyler through the development of internal and external marketing communications, social media, recruitment and fundraising collateral, and digital and traditional advertising initiatives. The position will identify and acquire necessary resources and coordinate the efforts of team members to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes, which includes liaising with university partners, external agencies, media outlets and production partners. This position involves initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects on budget and by designated due dates to achieve the strategic goals of the marketing and communications division. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks Participate in planning, directing, and coordinating marketing efforts to meet strategic goals and objectives. Provide scope, goals, objectives, and market research to align to expectations and needs consistent with the institutional and stakeholder priorities. Develop and implement unique marketing, branding, advertising, and social media plans by setting objectives and preparing competitive analysis and consumer trends. Work closely with creative team and external marketing partners to oversee and manage the development and placement of digital and traditional marketing initiatives. Manage marketing programs and materials to reach prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners who enhance the visibility and public perception on the University. Ensure that project mission, values, guidelines, policies and procedures are implemented and maintained. Track project status and effectively communicate updates to appropriate stakeholders. Coordinate with team members and stakeholders to gather and consolidate feedback to facilitate projects to completion. Manage vendors for printing, production, and fulfillment, including reviewing production costs and making recommendations for efficiency and cost savings. Provide occasional administrative and logistics support and be able to solve problems independently. Occasionally, regular work hours may fluctuate to meet deadlines or special events. Other duties as assigned. Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Knowledge of MS Office and Adobe CS is a plus. Demonstrated diplomatic, management, and communication skills to liaise and advocate with clients, administrative leaders, and other key stakeholders, including other implementing agencies. Ability to innovate, think creatively, and foster dialogue across diverse groups. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with solid attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated flexibility and initiative in a dynamic work environment. Ethical. Ability to maintain confidential information. Required Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, creative management or related field. Three (3) years' experience as an account or project manager. Experience in PM tools such as Workfront, Asana, Basecamp, JIRA, Monday.com or similar. A combination of experience and education may be considered. Preferred Education/Experience Five (5) years in a fast- paced agency and/or in-house creative or marketing environment. Experience in higher education institutions. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, ability to exhibit diplomacy and decisiveness.
