At UConn Health, this classification is responsible for marketing and communications initiatives for the Health Marketing department.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer of The Cato T. Laurencin Institute.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May lead lower-level employees as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Analyzes and evaluates marketing and communication strategies for the hospital's clinical, academic, and research pillars to target new patients, current patients, and other audiences. Applies healthcare communication techniques such as information gathering, plain language messaging, writing, editing, and design to generate creative ideas for targeted audiences and clinical services. Guides the creation of long- and short-format marketing materials from conception to completion in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders. Designs and writes for conceptual campaigns across mediums such as but not limited to print advertising, billboards, brochures, radio, TV, digital banner ads, social media, website, reports, and newsletters for desired results. Proofreads and edits various materials, paying close attention to detail and adhering to UConn Health Style Guide and AP Style. Serves as an expert resource to UConn Health staff and administrators regarding the effective use of brand messaging and identity to ensure a consistent voice and appearance throughout the organization. Keeps abreast of changing trends in the healthcare industry, marketing, branding, mediums, and communication tools. Participates and represents the department and UConn Health at local and national events and meetings. Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must possess the technical knowledge to manage marketing projects and perform multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment successfully. A strong understanding of marketing techniques, excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and customer service skills, proofreading experience, and attention to detail are a must.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Six (6) years of experience in related field such as marketing, communications, project management.
SUBSTITUTION ALLOWED
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a closely related field may substitute for four (4) years of general experience. Master's degree in a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel within the state in the course of their daily work. Experience with WordPress and Adobe creative programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to manage, update, and maintain the Institute's website. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
SCHEDULE
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid meal break. The schedule may vary according to program needs. May occasionally be required to work on weekends or minor holidays. This is NOT a remote position.
