A Marketing Communications Specialist describes and promotes an organization and its products including graphics, product collateral, logos, or other promotional products. Analyzes customer requirements, develops messaging architecture and competitive positioning, specifies vehicles/projects, secures resources, communicates project development and drives creative development processes. Works with outside vendors/agencies for design and execution of advertising campaigns, trade show exhibitions, mail campaigns, and seminars.

Job Description

INTERNSHIP DURATION
June 1 to July 31, 2026 (8 weeks) Part-time (24 hours a week) The Communications & Marketing Intern will assist with print and digital storytelling, learn the inside and out of nonprofit communications and marketing, and raise awareness on our mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with finding stories Meet with program managers, case managers, and frontline staff about potential client stories Assist with internal and external communications Monthly client flyer, staff emails, monthly newsletter, etc. Assist with website Update articles, photos, and content Assist with digital analytics Track engagement with social media, website, emails, etc. Assist with photography and videos Volunteer, staff, or event opportunities Event communications supportPrepare a presentation on what they learned in the 8 weeks to present to the leadership team at the conclusion of their internship
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Commitment to the mission, values and goals of SVDP.Knowledge of social media platforms.

Experience with graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva (preferred)
