Position Overview

Johnsonville is seeking a Marketing Communications Internship to start in Summer 2027. The ideal candidate is a curious, engaged learner who is excited to jump into the fast-moving world of marketing communications … and sausage. In this role, the intern will support Johnsonville's social media and digital teams by helping plan, organize and bring to life content across brand-owned channels. They'll gain hands-on experience in content planning, digital storytelling, community engagement, event support, trend spotting and performance reporting while helping make Johnsonville's family of brands famous with sausage lovers everywhere.



Responsibilities Support the planning, creation and execution of social content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest.

Help manage real-time community engagement for Johnsonville, Vermont Smoke and Cure, and Gilbert's in a way that feels helpful, human and on-brand.

Maintain and organize brand content calendars to support timely, proactive posting.

Write engaging social copy that brings each brand's personality and humor to life.

Create short-form social content, including concepting, shooting and editing TikToks, Reels and more.

Identify social, cultural and digital trends that could inspire timely brand content.

Collaborate with the Marketing Communications team on campaigns informed by audience insights, trends and community conversations.

Track social media and digital marketing performance and help identify insights for future content.

Assist with content updates for owned websites and customer e-commerce pages.

Education Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field; junior or senior status preferred

Portfolio of social, writing, video or creative work is a plus

3.5 minimum GPA strongly preferred

Experience Prior work experience preferred

Skills Deeply engaged with social media and internet culture, with a strong understanding of platforms, trends, creators and online communities.

Experience executing content on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube or Pinterest is a plus.

Comfortable creating video content, including shooting, editing and appearing on camera; experience with tools like CapCut, Canva or Adobe is a plus.

Strong writer who can create natural, conversational and humorous copy while staying true to a brand voice.

Able to spot trends, conversations and cultural moments and translate them into content opportunities.

Organized, collaborative self-starter who can manage multiple platforms, projects and conversations in a fast-moving environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, agency partners, creators and online communities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
