As an Inc. 5000 company, we design and manufacture innovative products used by athletes across the country. We are looking for a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Product Development & Operations Manager to help drive product development, vendor relationships, sourcing, inventory planning, and operational execution. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys owning projects, working directly with manufacturers and suppliers, and helping bring new products from concept to market. Position Overview The Product Development & Operations Manager will play a key role in managing product development initiatives while overseeing critical operational functions, including purchasing, inventory management, vendor coordination, logistics, and supply chain execution. This individual will work closely with leadership, manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time, inventory remains healthy, and new products successfully move through the development process. Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development Manage product development projects from concept through production. Coordinate directly with domestic and international manufacturers regarding prototypes, samples, production timelines, and quality standards. Track product development schedules and ensure milestones are met. Research new materials, manufacturing processes, and product opportunities. Assist with product launches, product updates, and ongoing product improvements. Vendor & Supply Chain Management Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers. Source new vendors and negotiate pricing, lead times, and production capabilities. Manage purchase orders and monitor supplier performance. Coordinate inbound shipments and production schedules. Negotiate and manage freight contracts with major carriers, including UPS, FedEx, and DHL, to secure optimal rates and service terms. Operations & Inventory Management Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs. Generate inventory, purchasing, and operational reports. Coordinate logistics and support fulfillment operations. Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and scalability. Assist in developing systems and procedures that support company growth. Cross-Functional Support Work closely with leadership to prioritize projects and operational initiatives. Communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders. Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed. Qualifications Required 3-7 years of experience in operations, product development, supply chain, purchasing, sourcing, or a related field. Experience working directly with vendors, suppliers, or manufacturers. Strong project management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Experience in consumer products, sporting goods, apparel, protective equipment, or manufacturing environments. Experience with inventory planning, purchasing, and supply chain management. Familiarity with overseas manufacturing and production processes. Experience working with ERP, inventory, or business management systems. What Success Looks Like Product development projects move efficiently from concept to production. Vendor relationships are managed proactively and professionally. Inventory levels remain healthy and purchasing decisions are data-driven. Operational processes continue to improve as the company scales. New products launch on time and meet quality expectations.
