What You Will Do The Senior Director, Global Fire Detection Product Management will lead the end-to-end product strategy, planning, and execution for the global fire detection portfolio. This role is accountable for driving profitable growth, portfolio competitiveness, and lifecycle value, while ensuring strong alignment between product development, regional execution, and commercial success. The role operates at the intersection of strategy, execution, and commercialization, translating customer needs and market dynamics into differentiated offerings and measurable business outcomes across global markets.
How you will do it:
Product Planning & Strategy Define and lead the global product strategy and long-range roadmap for fire detection solutions Translate market trends, regulatory shifts, and customer needs into clear product investment priorities Develop and support business cases for new products, platforms, and strategic investments Identify growth opportunities across segments, geographies, and verticals Drive alignment between global strategy and regional execution requirements Core Product Management Own end-to-end product management execution, from concept through launch and adoption Define and prioritize product requirements based on structured voice-of-customer, regulatory, and competitive insights Ensure strong linkage between customer needs, product design, and delivered value Lead product roadmap governance and prioritization in partnership with Engineering Drive new product introduction (NPI) execution, including launch readiness, adoption tracking, and post-launch optimization Establish feedback loops across regions to refine roadmap and feature prioritization Base Portfolio Management (Installed Base & Lifecycle) Manage the full lifecycle of the installed base and existing product portfolio Drive portfolio sustainability, optimization, and rationalization, including end-of-life planning and transitions Lead sustaining engineering prioritization and backlog management, ensuring alignment with field needs and quality requirements Monitor and improve product performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost Serve as escalation point for product-related quality, field, and supply issues, ensuring timely resolution Leverage installed base insights to drive continuous improvement and future product design enhancements Commercial Support & Value Capture Partner with Commercial, Pricing, and Marketing to drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and value capture Support development of value-based pricing strategies and guardrails Define and refine product positioning, differentiation, and competitive strategy Ensure availability of sales enablement tools (playbooks, value propositions, competitive materials) Drive adoption of new offerings through strong field enablement and training Support expansion of lifecycle revenue streams (services, upgrades, digital offerings) Performance Management & Governance Define and track key portfolio performance metrics, including: Revenue growth and market share Gross margin and cost performance NPI success (on-time, on-budget delivery) Product adoption and lifecycle performance Quality and reliability metrics Use data-driven insights to drive accountability and continuous improvement Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership Cross-Functional Leadership Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Regional Teams Ensure strong alignment between global product direction and regional market needs Lead decision-making across a matrixed global organization Influence stakeholders at all levels to drive execution and results Team Leadership & Capability Building Build and lead a high-performing global product management organization Develop capabilities across Product planning, Lifecycle management and Commercial acumen Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus and execution excellence What we look for: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred 15+ years of experience in product management / portfolio leadership, strategy and commercialization and global or multi-regional roles Proven track record of driving end-to-end product lifecycle and business performance, leading complex global portfolios and delivering growth and profitability outcomes Strong strategic thinking and execution capability, business and financial acumen and cross-functional leadership skills Experience in fire detection, safety systems, or adjacent technologies strongly preferred What Success Looks Like A competitive, future-ready global fire detection portfolio Consistent revenue growth and margin improvement Strong product adoption and successful launches Optimized installed base and lifecycle value High-performing global product management organization Johnson Controls International plc. is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, protected veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a qualified individual with a disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
