Job Description

An established organisation within the industrial distribution sector is seeking a commercially driven and collaborative Product Director to oversee a defined portfolio of products and supplier partnerships. Reporting into senior product leadership, this individual will be responsible for shaping and delivering product strategies that drive revenue growth, enhance profitability, and support broader sales initiatives. The role requires a strong blend of commercial awareness, product management expertise, and the ability to work effectively across multiple functions. Candidates must be within commuting distance from either Charllote, NC or Tusla, OK so you can attend company meetings when necessary. Key Responsibilities Product Strategy & Execution Develop and implement product line strategies aligned with overarching business objectives and sales priorities. Oversee product lifecycle management, including portfolio positioning and cross-selling opportunities. Analyse market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activity to refine strategy and positioning. Supplier & Manufacturer Management Act as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers and manufacturing partners. Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing structures, rebate agreements, and marketing support. Ensure alignment between external partners and internal teams to support successful execution of product strategies. Sales Enablement & Commercial Support Work closely with sales teams to provide product knowledge, training, and tools to support revenue growth. Serve as the internal subject matter expert, supporting opportunity development and customer engagement. Collaborate with sales leadership to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions. Marketing & Promotion Partner with marketing teams to help design and execute campaigns aligned to product objectives. Contribute to messaging, promotional strategies, and content development to drive awareness and demand. Represent the product portfolio at trade shows, virtual events, and customer-facing engagements. Pricing, Inventory & Profitability Collaborate with operations and finance teams on inventory planning, supplier performance, and stock optimisation. Develop and maintain pricing strategies that support margin targets and competitive positioning. Track product performance metrics and adjust strategies to improve financial returns. Training & Capability Development Deliver product training to internal teams and, where required, external customers. Create supporting materials to enhance product understanding and sales effectiveness. Assist in onboarding new team members with relevant product knowledge and training. Operational Excellence Maintain accurate and up-to-date product data across internal systems such as ERP, CRM, and PIM platforms. Ensure adherence to established processes related to product launches, supplier onboarding, and campaign execution. Contribute to ongoing improvements in product management processes and ways of working. Required Experience & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Distribution, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years' experience in product management, supplier management, or technical/commercial sales within an industrial environment. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate strategy into execution. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Experience working cross-functionally and balancing multiple priorities effectively. Preferred Experience Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems such as Epicor or Salesforce. Knowledge of industrial product categories including HVAC, automation, controls, or electrical components. Exposure to digital marketing tools and sales enablement platforms.
