Day In The Life Assure that each NPD projects align with business plan and roll out on time, budget, and meet customer expectations
Lead team to deliver NPD growth by aligning business needs, customer needs, and aligning resources to accomplish projects
Deliver on NPD sales target, not just by developing the product, but also supporting adoption by interfacing with target customers
Lead Design to Value (DtV) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiative for business
Responsible for budget preparation and subsequent control of budget for all assigned functions (NPD, Test Laboratory, Engr Services)
Proactive participation in and contributions to cross-BU innovation projects
Participate in strategic and business planning functions including product strategies, workforce requirements, and expense and capital budget proposals.
Develop, adhere to, and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department such as NPD stage gate process.
Provide oversight for all engineering aspects of new product development.
Keep up-to-date on industry standards, regulatory agency and code requirements (UL, CSA, IEC, ANSI, etc.).
Lead Kaizen events such as Product Line Vision and Design for Lean Sigma events as examples.
Develop business cases for adding new technology, laboratory improvements, and resources
With counterparts in marketing and operations, develop strategic and business plans, establishing plans for new product development, product line extensions, and product line cost reductions (design to value)
Contribute ideas for design projects (both new and revised).
Demonstrate a broad knowledge of processes and develop awareness of all current manufacturing processes.
Interface with customers and provide technical assistance when required, develop familiarity with applicable industry standards, and increase understanding of utility practices. What will help you thrive in this role? Must have a minimum of 7 years in engineering and project management
Prior experience in leading cross functional teams and managing people
Proven track record successfully managing multiple projects at the same
BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), MBA is a plus
Project Manager Professional Certification is preferred
CAD/SolidWorks experience in 2d and 3d including rapid prototyping and 3d scanning. Inventor, AutoCAD, and Unigraphics preferred
Must be a good team leader, with experience working with cross functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, operations, etc)
Solid team player who works for advancement of team results, not self-promotion.
Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Must possess strong computer skills.
Must be results oriented, with strong motivation to succeed.
Must have proven ability to meet project objectives and time lines.
