Product Manager - Model-Based Product Development Job Description This Product Manager role leads the strategic evolution of engineering systems from traditional 2D drawings to a modern Model-Based Product Development approach. You will act as the product owner for foundational engineering capabilities built around the PTC Windchill ecosystem, defining and executing roadmaps that enable virtual builds, testing, and Model-Based Definition across the organization. In this position, you will collaborate closely with digital and IT engineering teams to ensure that product lifecycle management capabilities are robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs. Responsibilities Lead the strategic advancement of engineering systems to transition from 2D drawings to a contemporary Model-Based Product Development approach. Serve as the product owner for core engineering capabilities centered on the PTC Windchill ecosystem. Define and maintain product roadmaps that enable virtual builds, testing, and Model-Based Definition (MBD). Provide product leadership for Windchill-based PLM capabilities and processes, including 3D BOM structures such as EBOM, MBOM, and SBOM. Oversee configuration management, versioning, and traceability within the PLM environment to ensure product data integrity. Drive and optimize engineering change processes, including ECR, ECO, and ECN workflows. Manage and refine release and approval workflows to support efficient and compliant product development. Guide and improve CAD/PDM integration patterns, including integrations with Creo and related toolchains. Partner with digital and IT software engineering and platform teams to support PLM platform health and scalability. Collaborate to plan and execute platform upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption and improved capabilities. Monitor and enhance platform performance, reliability, and security in partnership with engineering and IT teams. Engage senior business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into actionable product features and enhancements. Champion Model-Based Definition concepts and practices, driving adoption and practical enablement across engineering teams. Ensure that product lifecycle processes align with organizational objectives and industry best practices. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Design, Business, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in IT or Engineering with increasing scope and accountability. 5+ years of experience in Product Management partnering with senior business stakeholders in complex enterprise environments. Recent experience supporting Model-Based Definition (MBD) transformation and practical enablement of MBD concepts. Demonstrated experience with PTC engineering systems and product lifecycle processes. Hands-on experience with Windchill-based PLM capabilities and processes. Proficiency with 3D BOM structures, including EBOM, MBOM, and SBOM. Experience managing configuration management, versioning, and traceability in a PLM context. Experience with engineering change processes such as ECR, ECO, and ECN. Knowledge of CAD/PDM integration patterns, particularly involving Creo and related toolchains. Strong understanding of Model-Based Product Development and Model-Based Definition practices. Ability to define and execute product roadmaps for complex engineering and PLM systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience collaborating with digital and IT software engineering and platform teams on enterprise systems. Familiarity with MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) concepts and tools. Strong communication skills for engaging senior business stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Proven ability to drive change and adoption of new engineering processes and tools. Background in industrial or product design processes is beneficial. Experience with performance, reliability, and security considerations for enterprise platforms. Work Environment The role operates in a highly collaborative, technology-driven environment focused on modernizing engineering and product development processes. You will work closely with digital and IT software engineering teams, platform teams, and senior business stakeholders to shape and support the PTC Windchill ecosystem and related toolchains such as Creo. The environment emphasizes complex enterprise-scale systems, platform scalability, upgrades, performance, reliability, and security. Work is primarily conducted using advanced PLM, CAD, and engineering tools, with an expectation of close coordination across functions and time zones as needed.
