contract Role Overview L.A. Burdick Chocolates, celebrated for its handcrafted chocolates, pastries, and drinking chocolates, is seeking an AI Search Optimization Consultant to help improve how consumers discover our brand through ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, and other AI-powered search and recommendation platforms. As consumer discovery shifts from traditional search to AI-generated answers, we are looking for someone who understands both Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and traditional SEO and can help increase Burdick's visibility across these channels. This is a hands-on role that combines strategy, content creation, technical recommendations, experimentation, and measurement. The ideal candidate will identify opportunities, execute improvements directly or provide clear implementation plans, and measure results over time. This is a remote contractor position. We are open to both short-term projects with concentrated hours and longer-term engagements with a smaller ongoing commitment. Key Responsibilities AI Search & Discovery Assess L.A. Burdick's visibility across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, and other AI platforms. Develop and execute strategies to improve discoverability and recommendation frequency. Conduct competitive analyses and identify opportunities to strengthen Burdick's position within key categories. Content & Website Optimization Identify and close content gaps affecting AI and search visibility. Write content directly or provide detailed content recommendations. Recommend and, where appropriate, implement improvements within Shopify. Improve site structure, content, schema, and other factors that influence discoverability. Measurement & Reporting Establish baseline metrics and success criteria. Build scorecards and reporting frameworks. Track visibility, rankings, traffic, engagement, and revenue impact. Provide regular progress updates and recommendations. What Success Looks Like Increased visibility across AI-powered search platforms. More frequent inclusion in AI-generated recommendations. Growth in organic and AI-referred traffic. Increased customer acquisition, store visits, and revenue attributable to AI and search discovery. Clear reporting demonstrating measurable progress and return on investment. What We Are Looking For Experience with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), AI search optimization, SEO, content strategy, digital PR, or related fields. Strong understanding of how AI systems source, evaluate, and recommend information. Experience improving visibility, traffic, rankings, or brand authority through content, technical improvements, or related initiatives. Strong analytical skills and a bias toward execution. Familiarity with Shopify and e-commerce businesses preferred. Experience with food, hospitality, luxury, gifting, or premium consumer brands is a plus. Compensation Hourly contractor engagement. Compensation and hours will vary based on experience, scope, and structure of engagement. Estimated range $100-175/hour.
