Postdoctoral Research Scholar University of Iowa remote work United States, Iowa, Iowa City 5 West Jefferson Street (Show on map) Aug 10, 2026 Postdoctoral Research Scholar Posting ID 161065 Department Business Analytics/Tippie College of Business Jobcode Postdoctoral Research Scholar Working Title Postdoctoral Research Scholar Details The Department of Business Analytics (https://tippie.uiowa.edu/about/business-analytics-department) within the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 100%-time postdoctoral research scholar position starting approximately September 15, 2026. The postdoctoral research scholar will work under the supervision of Professor Ann Campbell in the research area of transportation and logistics. The position will offer potential collaborations with members of the Departments of Business Analytics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as the School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability. Potential research projects range from topics related to logistics of rural health care to combining machine learning and optimization to improve existing urban delivery services. Position is located in Iowa City, Iowa and not eligible for remote work outside the state of Iowa. Annual salary will be $63,480 to commensurate with qualifications. The initial appointment is for nine months, with the possibility of renewal dependent on funding and satisfactory performance. Appropriate background checks (e.g. criminal background and credential checks) will be conducted. Education Requirement
  • An earned doctorate or strong evidence that the requirements for the doctoral degree will be completed before the start date in Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Informatics/Information Sciences, Logistics, Management Science, Operations Management/Supply Chain, Statistics, or any related field. Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated potential for publishing high-quality research on transportation and/or logistics topics.
  • A minimum of two years of research experience at the graduate level. Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience using real data and optimization tools such as Gurobi.
  • Interest in topics related to urban as well as rural environments.
