  • Full-time California Miramar University (CalMU) is seeking a Digital Content & Social Media Specialist to serve as the creative engine behind our brand.
This role builds CalMU's social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok, produces video and multimedia content and shapes how prospective students, current students, and the broader community experience the CalMU brand. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller and brand builder who brings a distinct point of view to every piece of work. Familiarity with AI tools for creative production is a plus Key Responsibilities Social Media Account Management Build and grow CalMU's organic presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok Develop and execute content calendars that tell CalMU's story with consistency and creativity Respond to comments, direct messages, and mentions within one business day Maintain a distinct, recognizable brand voice and visual identity across every platform Audience Engagement and Performance Tracking Engage with CalMU's audience across all platforms, including comments, messages, mentions, and student-generated content Track engagement metrics (followers, reach, impressions, shares, comments, click-through rates) and website content performance Use performance data to identify what works and inform future content Share weekly insights with the Performance Marketing & Operations Manager Marketing Materials and Event Collateral Design brochures, standees, flyers, banners, signage, and other print and digital collateral for events and routine business Maintain CalMU's creative asset library, including logos, fonts, color palettes, and templates Apply CalMU's brand guidelines consistently while bringing fresh creative expression Ensure accessibility in design, including alt text, captions, and color contrast Video Content Produce and edit short-form video for Instagram Reels, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook, shot on location across CalMU's San Diego campus Develop video series that bring student, faculty, and campus stories to life Produce campaign video assets in support of paid marketing initiatives Where helpful, use AI video tools to expand creative range and accelerate production Email Marketing Content Write, design, and produce email content for prospective student newsletters, event invitations, program announcements, and applicant communications Maintain branded email templates in HubSpot Craft subject lines and preview text that drive engagement Website Content Management Own day-to-day website content in HubSpot CMS, including copy updates, image refreshes, and new pages Publish blog posts, student success stories, program highlights, and faculty profiles Partner with the Manager on structural and SEO-related changes Brand Building and Campaign Support Shape and protect CalMU's brand voice and visual identity across every touchpoint Produce hero creative for major paid campaigns led by the Performance Marketing & Operations Manager Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field Two or more years of experience in social media management, digital content, or brand marketing Demonstrated experience producing creative content across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook Strong video production capability, including shooting and editing short-form video Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or Figma Strong writing and editing skills with a clear creative voice Familiarity with HubSpot CMS or a comparable content management system Ability to track engagement metrics and use data to inform creative decisions Self-directed work style with the ability to execute without heavy oversight A portfolio demonstrating creative range and a distinct point of view Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education or other student-facing brands Photography experience, including on-location campus and event coverage Working knowledge of SEO best practices Experience using AI tools for graphic design and image generation (Adobe Firefly, Canva AI, Midjourney, DALL-E, or similar) or video generation and editing (Runway, Sora, CapCut AI, Descript, or similar)
