Job Description

The Department of Visual Arts and Design seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Digital Media, visiting to begin August 2026. Applicants should submit their curriculum vitae and/or resume with a completed employment application. Salary is competitive with peer institutions and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will have some experience in professional practice and classroom teaching. Areas of practice could include Game Design, 3-D Modeing, Animation, Digital Media, or Interactive Media. The teaching load per semester is comprised of three (3) four-credit (4hr) courses. Primary teaching assignments may include principles of game design, history of game design, UX design, 3-D design, game scripting, simulation/cinematic VR, as well as a role in support of other art/graphics/film foundation courses (usually one course per semester), but with a particular influence on the senior experience and thesis exhibition. Strong digital workflows are a plus. The Assistant Professor of Digital Media is expected to engage in game design scholarship, juried creative activities, and/or publishing in peer-reviewed journals. About our ideal candidate Qualified candidates will have a terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D) in-field, or on path to complete the terminal degree. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative colleague who demonstrates a commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching and skill in methods of engaged learning within a changing interactive and game design landscape. The successful candidate also will be able to use instructional technology effectively. In addition, FSC faculty members participate in activities that enrich the intellectual life of the College and support its teaching and learning community.
