Job Description The Communication Department (COMM) at GTRI is seeking a sharp, proactive Communications & Social Media Student Assistant to support our social media presence and broader communications efforts for the Summer 2026 semester. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, a clear and confident communicator, and comfortable working in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. You'll assist with planning, creating, and publishing content for GTRI's social media platforms, as well as supporting common communications tasks such as writing, editing, basic design, and content organization. Previous experience in professional social media preferred. Required Minimum Qualifications Student Assistant/Research Assistant Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computational Media, Digital Media, or Literature, Media, and Communication 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and clarity. Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and take initiative. Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal). Comfort using major social media platforms for professional or organizational purposes. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience creating content for social media (classwork, internships, student organizations, or personal projects). Familiarity with basic analytics (e.g., native platform insights, simple metrics like reach, engagement, clicks). Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas Basic familiarity with design or content tools (e.g. hootsuite, Adobe Creative Cloud) Basic knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) Interest in research, technology, or public service communications.
