Student Public Relations Assistant Gallup, NM, United States | req37766 Apply Now Share Save Job Posted on: 8/31/2026 Back to Search Requisition ID req37766 Working Title Student Public Relations Assistant Pay $12.00 Hourly Campus Gallup Department Gallup Public Relations (735A) Employment Type Student Employment Student Type Work-Study Status Non-Exempt Background Check Required For Best Consideration Date 9/7/2026 Position Summary SUMMARY The UNM-Gallup Public Relations Department is seeking a motivated student employee with a flexible skillset to perform communications and marketing related duties with a focus on student engagement. The employee, under the supervision of the Sr. Public Relations Specialist, will also perform office duties and other job-related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works on creative projects with a focus on student engagement, which may include: o Designing and updating flyers. o Formatting digital newsletters. o Writing stories. o Taking and editing photos. o Maintaining campus events calendar. o Creating social media content. o Creating and sharing video content.
- Assists the Sr. Public Relations Specialist and Sr. Web Designer in brainstorming ideas for ways to engage the UNM-Gallup student population.
- Prints and posts marketing and informational materials in appropriate physical locations around campus.
- Maintains digital kiosk content.
- Provides customer service at visitor center.
- Provides support for campus events.
- Performs office duties as needed, such as: o Greeting visitors. o Taking notes during meetings. o Answering phones and taking messages. o Scanning documents. o Running errands.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Good computer skills.
- Good people skills.
- Willingness to learn and practice new job-related skills (training provided).
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to complete brand training for The University of New Mexico.
- Knowledge of, or interest in learning, the following: o Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
