About Local Links Gulfport The Village Digital is launching Local Links Gulfport, a hyperlocal community newsletter and guide serving the Gulf Coast. We keep Gulfport residents informed about local events, community spotlights, local deals, and everything happening in their backyard — delivered weekly by email and text. We're launching in Gulfport and looking for someone who loves this community and wants to be part of building something new here. About the Role We're looking for a reliable, organized, and community-minded part-time assistant to help us keep Local Links Gulfport running smoothly. This is a flexible, part-time role with a mix of remote tasks and occasional in-person work around the Gulfport area. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the community, is comfortable with basic computer tasks, and takes pride in doing detail-oriented work accurately and on time. What You'll DoRemote Tasks Research and upload local events to our website calendar using provided sources and guidelines Email local event organizers and community organizations to collect event submissions Schedule and post content to Local Links social media platforms Plug reviewed and approved content into our weekly newsletter template Reach out to local businesses or community members when we want to feature them for a community spotlight (we will provide scripts and training) In-Person Tasks (Gulfport area) Drop off Local Links flyers at coffee shops, local businesses, community centers, and other high-traffic locations Attend select local events to take photos for use in the newsletter and on social media Represent Local Links in a friendly, professional manner in the community What We're Looking For Gulfport resident or someone very familiar with the area Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented Comfortable with basic computer tasks — email, copy/paste, data entry, social media Friendly and professional when interacting with local businesses and community members Smartphone with camera capability for event photos Able to work independently with clear instructions provided Prior experience with newsletters, social media, or community organizations is a plus but not required Schedule & Commitment Hours are flexible and can be worked around your existing schedule. Tasks will be assigned weekly with clear deadlines. In-person flyer drops and event coverage will be scheduled in advance with plenty of notice.
