POSITION PURPOSE
The goal of this position is to strengthen Local First Arizona's brand and public image by increasing awareness of Local as the best method of economic development for a resilient Arizona. This role focuses on using digital marketing as a way to reach potential entrepreneurs, the local business community, community stakeholders and the broader Arizona community to advance to mission of creating a more resilient and inclusive Arizona economy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Social Media Operations Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day execution and management of Local First Arizona's social media channels. This role ensures content is published consistently, optimized for each platform, and supported through active community management and audience engagement. Working closely with the Digital Content Strategist and Digital Marketing Specialist , this position helps maximize the reach and effectiveness of content by managing publishing workflows, monitoring conversations, engaging with the community, and tracking performance across platforms. Social Media Operations & Strategy (50%) Manage the publishing calendar across all social media platforms. Schedule and publish content according to platform best practices. Ensure all content is optimized for discoverability, engagement, accessibility, and search. Maintain consistency in posting cadence across channels. Stay informed on platform updates, algorithm changes, and emerging social media features. Recommend platform-specific content strategies and best practices. Develop recommendations based on performance data. Coordinate publishing priorities around campaigns, events, programs, and organizational initiatives. Support the integration of social media with CRM, email marketing, and other digital marketing efforts. Community Management & Growth (30%) Monitor and respond to comments, direct messages, and mentions in a timely manner. Foster meaningful conversations with followers, member businesses, partners, sponsors, and community organizations. Engage with content from member businesses and strategic partners to strengthen relationships and increase Local First Arizona's visibility. Identify opportunities to join relevant community conversations and trends. Execute strategies that increase reach, engagement, and follower growth. Identify opportunities to expand Local First Arizona's visibility through strategic engagement and collaborations. Surface user-generated content opportunities. Support influencer and creator partnerships from an operational perspective. Analytics & Reporting (10%) Track key performance metrics across platforms. Produce monthly reports highlighting audience growth, engagement, reach, website traffic, and campaign performance. Identify trends and recommend improvements based on data. Local First Team Responsibilities (10%) Cross-collaborate with all Local First program areas for content generation and program support Attend all marketing and all team meetings as required Stay up to date with work-related news and developments Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related studies or 3 years equivalent professional experience 3 years strategic digital marketing and content development experience Preferred Qualifications Experience managing social media for brands or nonprofit organizations. Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms. Knowledge of social media analytics and reporting tools. Experience with scheduling platforms such as Sprout Social, Buffer, Later, Hootsuite, Loomly, or Meta Business Suite. Excellent written communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into actionable recommendations. Familiarity with SEO, social search, accessibility best practices, and evolving social media trends. Good perspective and/or appreciation of the history of Arizona Experience in nonprofit organizational structure Excellent professional verbal and written communications skills Creative problem solving skills Ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines Strong attention to detail and ability to think through processes Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, responsibilities, and deadlines Proficient in the use of platforms such as Google Suite, Wrike, Membership Works Proficient in creating content within social media platforms and using video editing and content tools such as Canva Experience in visual media, including photography, video content, and podcasts Demonstrated ability to conduct one's self in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions Occasional statewide travel required Full time (40 hours)
