Job Description

This part-time position works 10 hours per week and supports the College of Humanities & Social Sciences Marketing & Communication Manager. The Social Media Intern helps create engaging digital content and tell stories that highlight students, faculty, programs, events, and college experiences. This role provides hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and digital storytelling. We're looking for someone who is comfortable both appearing on camera and capturing photo and video content that helps tell the college's story. Content creation & editing: Create, edit, and publish posts, stories, reels, and short-form videos. Be comfortable appearing in videos when needed and capturing video footage of others for college marketing and communication projects. Photography & videography: Film and photograph events, highlights, and engaged learning for digital channels. Story development & interviews: Interview students, faculty, and alumni to capture authentic digital stories. Content calendar & ideation: Maintain a content calendar, brainstorm ideas, and support campaign planning. Event coverage & recaps: Capture content at events and produce recap posts.
Social media management:
Schedule and monitor content, manage engagement, and support calendar management using Sprout Social. Analytics & reporting: Track performance metrics and support basic reporting to guide strategy. Must be a current UVU student.
Knowledge :
Social media platforms: lnstagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Linkedln Social trends and digital culture. Familiarity with photo/video/editing tools (training available). Storytelling and audience engagement (preferred).
Skills :
Strong written and verbal communication. Creative content ideation. Organization and ability to meet deadlines. Interpersonal skills and teamwork. Basic editing in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (or willingness to learn) Comfortable communicating in a professional and engaging way on camera.
Abilities :
Create student-focused content. Attend events and produce recap content. Learn new tools and processes quickly. Work independently and follow directions while contributing ideas. Feel comfortable appearing in videos and other content when needed. Represent the college in a professional and student-friendly way on camera.
