Temporary Position Summary The Outreach & Engagement Student Assistant will work closely with the Computer Science Program Manager to support outreach and student engagement efforts for the Computer Science department. Responsibilities may include creating content for social media, taking photos, storytelling, and assisting with event setup and logistics. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys creative work, connecting with others, and contributing to a strong sense of community. Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Pay rate: $19.55/hour - $25.29/hour The successful candidate is expected to work up to 5 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $19.96 / hour . This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits. Student employees are entitled to begin accruing paid sick leave from the start of their employment. About the Department The Computer Science department oversees all computer science courses at Bellevue College and administers the four-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program. The program has a strong track record of preparing students for careers in the field through individualized support, industry-relevant curriculum, and a strong focus on job placement after graduation. Essential Functions- Create or curate engaging content (text, images, videos) for social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Track and report basic performance metrics to help assess the impact of social media efforts.
- Develop flyers to promote department sponsored events and outreach activities.
- Take photos at events to capture student participation and highlight program activities.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations to enhance student engagement and community-building initiatives.
- Assist the Computer Science Program Manager with event setup and logistics, as needed.
- Good understanding of various social media platforms.
- Basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) are a plus.
- Creative thinking and an eye for detail.
