Job Description

Position Summary The Material Handler / Brake Press Prep specialist is a vital support role responsible for the efficient flow of materials through the fabrication department. This position is ideal for motivated individuals looking to develop technical skills in a high-demand manufacturing environment through hands-on training and operational support. You will work closely with experienced operators to ensure production targets are met with precision and safety.
Primary Responsibilities Material Staging & Logistics:
Coordinate the movement of sheet metal parts from the cutting department (Laser/Plasma) to the bending stations.
Inventory Organization:
Ensure all materials are organized by job number and priority to maintain a consistent production schedule.
Component Preparation:
Operate industrial grinding and deburring equipment to remove sharp edges and imperfections.
Quality Standards:
Ensure every part is safe for handling and meets the specific quality requirements for the bending process.
Dimensional Verification:
Perform basic quality inspections using tape measures and calipers to confirm parts match technical drawings.
Setup Assistance:
Support Brake Press Operators with machine changeovers, including the organization and selection of necessary tooling (dies and punches).
Operational Documentation:
Utilize the internal digital tracking system to accurately record material movement and job completion.
Candidate Requirements Reliability:
Consistent attendance and punctuality are critical to maintaining the rhythm of the shop floor.
Technical Aptitude:
A strong desire to learn blueprint reading and the use of precision measurement instruments.
Mathematical Proficiency:
Comfort working with decimals and fractions for accurate measurement verification.
Physical Capability:
Ability to stand for the duration of a shift and safely lift or maneuver materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Safety Mindset:
Strict adherence to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and workplace safety protocols. Professional Development & Growth This role serves as the primary training ground for advancement into skilled fabrication positions. Success in this role provides a direct career pathway: Phase 1: Mastery of material identification and quality control basics. Phase 2: Advanced assistance with complex machine setups and tool selection. Phase 3: Formal training for independent Brake Press operation and machine programming.
Pay:
From $17.00 per hour
