Material Handler & Yard Maintenance Associate

The Yard Technician at Blue Star Services is responsible for keeping our facilities looking clean and professional by maintaining the cleanliness of our equipment and keeping everything organized and easily accessible. Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Handling:

Load and unload rental equipment and materials from trucks and trailers safely and efficiently. Assist in the inspection and maintenance of equipment before it is sent out for rental, ensuring it meets safety and operational standards.

Yard Maintenance:

Maintain a clean and organized yard by regularly clearing debris and properly storing equipment and materials. Implement proper stacking and storage techniques to optimize space and ensure easy access to rental items.

Inventory Management:

Assist with inventory tracking and management, ensuring accurate records of all equipment in the yard. Conduct regular counts and inspections of inventory to identify any discrepancies or maintenance needs.

Customer Service:

Interact with customers as they pick up or return equipment, providing assistance as needed and ensuring a positive experience. Answer basic customer inquiries regarding equipment availability and operation.

Safety Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while working in the yard, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. Participate in safety training sessions and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.

Equipment Maintenance:

Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks on rental equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and checking fluid levels. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly. Assistance with

Deliveries:

Assist in preparing equipment for delivery, including loading and securing items on trucks. Support drivers in ensuring safe and timely delivery of equipment to job sites.

Collaboration:

Work closely with yard supervisors, service technicians, and rental coordinators to facilitate smooth operations and communication. Contribute to team efforts by helping with various tasks as directed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in a construction equipment rental or yard operations environment is a plus, but not required. Ability to operate forklifts and other yard equipment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs without assistance) and work in various weather conditions. Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills are advantageous. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Valid driver's license.
