Non-Exempt (unless otherwise designated) Position Summary The Convenience Store Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating point-of-sale systems, maintaining a clean and safe store environment, and supporting daily store operations including merchandising, stocking, and basic food/beverage preparation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, efficient service. Operate cash register/POS, process cash/credit transactions, and issue receipts accurately. Follow all age-restricted sales policies (tobacco, alcohol, lottery) and verify identification. Stock shelves, coolers, and displays; rotate product and check expiration dates. Maintain store cleanliness including restrooms, sales floor, and exterior areas. Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying product counts. Prepare and serve basic food and beverage items as needed. Monitor fuel pumps and respond to customer needs at the forecourt. Report safety hazards, suspicious activity, and maintenance needs to management. Support promotions and merchandising standards per company guidelines. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to operate POS systems and handle cash accurately. Basic math skills and attention to detail. Ability to follow written procedures and comply with safety standards. Dependability and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to pass required background checks for restricted sales (as applicable). Physical Demands and Work Environment Stand and walk for extended periods. Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation. Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions. Work in cooler/freezer environments for short periods.
